Riptide on Channel 5: Filming locations include stunning coastal city Down Under and venue with link to Neighbours
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside...
Riptide on Channel 5 combines all the best elements you need for a compelling drama – beautiful filming locations, a good cast, and a central murder mystery.
Jo Joyner stars in the British-Australian psychological thriller which airs this week. It previously aired in 2022.
This follows the Kym Marsh drama The Imposter, which aired in 2025. Cast and crew also filmed in Australia. Both series were created by Jason Herbison, who worked on Neighbours between 2013 and 2015.
And that is not where the similarities end… Here’s everything you need to know about the filming locations used in the Channel thriller Riptide.

Where is Riptide set?
Riptide is set exactly where it was filmed – in Victoria, Australia. Specifically the metropolitan coastal city of Melbourne. This is very close to the filming locations used in the Kym Marsh thriller The Imposter. And we’ll never tire of looking at the stunning beaches and crashing waves…
The story centres on a newlywed couple living Down Under. Their lives are upended when the husband mysteriously disappears during a morning surf.
When Alison (Jo Joyner) marries self-made Australian Sean, she moves to the other side of the world to start a new life with him. But their perfect lives are cut short when he vanishes.
What filming locations were used for Channel 5’s Riptide?
The cast and crew of Riptide filmed in the Australian city of Melbourne.
Talking about the location, Jo said: “I am really excited to be working with the fantastic teams at Fremantle, Channel 5 and 10 in Australia, and playing Alison.
“She is such a warm and layered character whose world is turned upside down, just when it seemed like her life was finally coming together.
“I am also thrilled to be filming in the fabulous city of Melbourne and surrounding countryside, an area that I have always wanted to explore.”

Where is Alison’s house in the C5 thriller?
Alison and Sean’s stunning home is actually the historic Morning Star Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, a popular wedding venue and hotel.
The property is one of the most popular wedding venues in the region, and features a main mansion house, a boutique hotel, a restaurant and an events venue. It is worth more than AUS$30 million.
The estate has 12 hectares of Pinot, Chardonnay and Cabernet grapes, but is best known for its 75,000 rose bushes, one of the state’s largest collections. It sits on the eastern shore of Port Phillip Bay and also includes an orchard.
It sold in 2020 asking $40m.
