Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 finale cast gives guest spots to Rivals and Succession stars
Luella and Frank's last case has them impersonating parents-to-be
Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 finale’s cast could be the starriest yet; drifting amidst the sad aura of Queenie’s death anniversary.
Old wounds resurface for Lu and Frank whilst their assistant Sebastian Brudenell feels the pressure of stepping up. The mystery-solvers are then forced to go undercover as a pregnant couple. Their aim? To infiltrate a hypno-birthing class run by Jennifer Adams.
CEO Charlie Alexander suspects that his wife Milly is hooking up with his handsome reputation manager Trent Jacobson, so when Trent attends a class in Charlie’s stead, the latter is prepared to pay whatever it costs to dig up the truth. Trent is then bludgeoned to death by an unseen figure – shock horror!
“While mistakes are made and conflict brews more than the tea, can the team pull together to find the killer before DS Keeler, and can Frank and Lu finally deal with what happened to Queenie?” teases a U&Alibi synopsis.
Before diving into the Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 finale though, get up to speed with this instalment’s guest stars.

Heartbeat star joins the murder show as Charlie Alexander
It’s Jason Durr’s turn to acquire the services of Jo Joyner and Mark Benton’s clever crime-solvers.
Prior to joining the U&Alibi series as business manager Charlie Alexander, the 57-year-old made a name for himself playing Heartbeat’s Mike Bradley for close to 130 episodes. The sci-fi crowd might recognise him as Jupiter Moon’s Alex Hartmann, or DI Peterson in Lewis series 6.
Jason notably starred in a Hallmark Channel film with Twin Peaks legend Kyle MacLachlan and Star Trek‘s Patrick Stewart too, titled Mysterious Island.
From 2016, he regularly appeared as Casualty’s David Hide, who crossed over to Holby City for multiple extended cameos.

Milly actress appeared in Rivals series one
As Milly Alexander, actress Katie Eldred feels all sorts of eyes burning the back of her head during this series-closer.
A relative fresher on the TV scene, her biggest job to date has been on Disney+’s Rivals, which adapts the late Jilly Cooper’s 1988 novel. Rubbing shoulders with Danny Dyer and David Tennant, the star played Amanda Butler.
Earlier this year, she was also part of the cast for Malpractice series 2.

Which shows has Kaye Wragg been in before?
Kaye Wragg has joined the Shakespeare & Hathaway series 5 finale as hypnobirthing specialist Jennifer.
In acclaimed screenwriter Jimmy McGovern’s drama The Lakes, which aired between 1997 and 1999, she portrayed Lucy Archer across all 14 episodes.
For Channel 4, the 52-year-old brought the goods as Kate Oakley in comedy series No Angels – its story following the lives of four healthcare workers in Leeds. She’s also recognised for the years spent playing Sergeant Diane Noble in The Bill, as well as Holby City’s Essie Di Lucca until 2022.
Wire in the Blood, Waterloo Road, Inspector George Gently, and Call the Midwife also welcomed her into their casts.

Shakespeare & Hathaway final episode – who plays Trent?
Last but not least is Norwegian actor Christian Rubeck in the role of potential scumbag Trent Jacobson.
As for where you might’ve spotted him before, Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle cast the 44-year-old as Jerome in the family comedy Millions back in 2004.
In the intervening years, Christian worked with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton on Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Allied (with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard) and Netflix’s What Happened to Monday (Noomi Rapace) soon followed.
Succession’s final season also featured him on screen amidst the ever-shifting familial power dynamics as Andreas Bloc, while in 2018, he stopped by Doctor Who for an episode titled It Takes You Away.
