Sophie Khan Levy confirms she's pregnant as Priya exits EastEnders and fans are horrified it's 'permanent'
Priya will be missed by fansEastEnders fans were left heartbroken tonight over the shock exit for Priya in tonight’s episode – but is she gone for good?
Priya dropped a huge baby bombshell on Ravi last night, and as a result, she made the decision to flee from Walford.
But while she may have driven off in the back of a taxi, EastEnders star Sophie Khan Levy has given a life update which doesn’t signal good news for fans.
Priya EastEnders exit
After Ravi discovered that Max was the father of Priya’s baby, things hit the fan between them. And Priya spent all of tonight’s episode trying to figure out if there was a chance she could raise the baby in Walford without Max wanting involvement.
However, following a conversation with Linda where she revealed that despite his faults, Max has always been a good dad to Annie, Priya knew she was in a tricky situation.
She went home and revealed to Ravi that she needs to leave Walford. And he surprisingly agreed that he would come and join her with the kids when she was settled.
It was a very emotional ending as Ravi promised Priya he still loved her, and that their reunion was the “best thing” that ever happened to him.
But the big question is – will she be back?
Is Sophie Khan Levy leaving EastEnders?
Up until today, there had been no confirmation on Sophie’s future as Priya on EastEnders. However today (22 September) EastEnders unfortunately confirmed that Priya had departed the show.
But it’s not all sad, as Sophie confirmed she is currently pregnant, expecting her first child. The news was revealed in a heartwarming video posted by the EastEnders social media page.
In the video, the EastEnders team were all gathered for a photograph, when a crew member revealed: “So, we have just wrapped Sophie’s final scene with us on EastEnders. We want to thank you on behalf of everyone for a really extraordinary few years. It’s a really hard thing to come in and put on the shoes of a new character in this show, but you instantly became an icon.”
After the cast all chanted about how much they love her, Sophie took to the floor to give a very special speech of her own.
She revealed: “This has been an incredible three years. You all feel like family. I can’t believe I have to leave, but I do – because there is something coming imminently. Hope I get a little bit of time. But you are all a joy. I’m getting so sad, but I love you all. You have been incredible.”
But at the end of the video, Sophie did tease: “Watch this space. Who knows if Priya will return?”
So, while she’s definitely on maternity leave, the video itself was enough of a goodbye for everyone to wonder if she will ever come back – or if we have just lost Priya for good.
Fans fear the exit is ‘permanent’
Very quickly after the video was posted, EastEnders fans immediately were all left devastated at the thought of never getting Priya on their screens again.
One fan penned: “WHAT!!!!! She’s actually leaving proper? I assumed it was just temporary. If not, that’s the worst decision ever. She’s absolutely brilliant and will be a huge miss for viewers.”
Another added: “I really hope Sophie returns after her maternity leave, she’s such a great actress and Priya is a brilliant character.”
“Sorry it’s not maternity leave?? She can’t be gone for good! Don’t take Priya away from me” a third wrote.
An upset fan penned: “I’m obviously happy for her but I really hope she decides to come back after her maternity leave. Please don’t let this be the end.”
While it’s unknown if Priya’s exit is just for maternity leave or permanent, it’s also important to note other characters have had a huge send-off then returned after their maternity leave was over. So, let’s hope it isn’t a full goodbye for Priya!
