Stephen's rookie mistake in front of Jade and Jack on The Traitors is just embarrassing at this point

Stephen is on thin ice!

Stephen has somehow managed to get through another day as we’re fully into the second half of this year’s series of The Traitors – despite making a huge mistake.

Last night, (Thursday, January 15), we saw Sam banished from the castle as two Traitors remain at large. While Sam has roused suspicion for some time, his luck ran out last night – not before telling the group he was, in fact, a Faithful all along!

Traitors Rachel and Stephen had the task of deciding who to murder next to cement their place in the competition, and to try to remove any heat that may be on them. They had to decide between Jessie, Faraaz or Matt. Unfortunately, fan favourite Jessie was murdered.

In tonight’s episode, Stephen messed up in front of Jade and Jack, but neither of them picked up on it or brought it up during The Traitors Round Table. The Traitors live for another day.

Fans think Jade noticed Stephen’s mistake on The Traitors

Stephen was sitting with Jack and Jade outside as they were talking about their latest hunches. Jack was revealing that he felt someone close to him was a Traitor. But he wanted it to be clear that he trusted both of them.

However, Traitor Stephen messed up in front of the pair and fans think it was picked up by Jade.

“What I will say, and I’m saying this more because I know that I am a… Faithful,” Stephen said as he appeared to choke on the word Faithful.

Jade then gave him an awkward smile and the conversation continued.

“Stephen, you just started to say “I’m a Tra-Faithful” and she noticed,” penned one viewer.

“Stephen to Jack: “I know that I’m a T-Faithful,” picked up another.

While a third added: “This episode is stressing me out for Stephen.”

Stephen’s lucky escapes so far

Stephen has been dealt a lucky hand multiple times throughout the game so far.

Although his facial expressions are hilarious, no other player has seemed to pick up on his nervous disposition or reaction to monumental moments so far.

Jessie had put Stephen in her sights after Ben was murdered, and again when Ross – wrongly accused of being the murderer and Traitor – was banished as a Faithful. She was convinced there was a Traitor in the library when Ben confessed before his murder.

Both Fiona and Stephen were in that room that night, but as Fiona has been banished and outed as a Traitor, Stephen sighed with relief. However, Jessie was back on the trail and placed her attention to the Cage mission. Before she could convince other players, she was murdered at the beginning of tonight’s episode.

Rachel appears to bulletproof

Despite both Fiona and Harriet calling Rachel a Traitor, no one is picking up the scent she is leaving behind.

Fellow Traitor Fiona turned on Rachel in the second week after believing Rachel was lying about what Faithful Amanda had told her regarding her career. Amanda confided in Rachel that she was a former detective at Metropolitan Police, in a bid to convince Rachel that Jade and Sam were Traitors.

However, in a turn of events, Amanda was banished that evening. When Rachel told the group of Amanda’s former job, Fiona suspected foul play. She ended up turning against her fellow Traitor and trying to convince everyone else that Rachel was a Traitor.
Her plan backfired though, and Fiona ended up being voted out.

Harriet, on the other hand, kept quiet about her history when she entered the competition. She only revealed she was a thriller writer and former criminal barrister to her fellow contestants on Wednesday night.

The ex lawyer explained she didn’t want to have a target on her back but had now concluded that Rachel was a Traitor. But the way she gave this news fell flat with the Faithful.

Harriet lost her temper at breakfast, snapping at Faithful Roxy and speaking over other players.

Her long-winded reasoning at the tense Round Table also swayed people the other way. Harriet told them all to call her bluff and vote for her so she could “sacrifice” herself as a Faithful, and to vote for Rachel next.

But after both women left the castle, the fires burned out instead. Rachel hasn’t had any heat on her and their departures have appeared to cement the misguided belief that Rachel is a Faithful.

Ellie is voted out in The Traitors

Rachel admitted she had no ‘plan’ that day, despite telling the group she ‘knew’ who was a Traitor at Breakfast.

She confessed to telling a “white lie”, and that it was bogus, a deliberate ploy to spot ‘changes’ she perceived throughout the day. She then alleges Ellie’s behaviour changed – and convinced the rest of the group!

Ellie began crying, trying to explain her game plan from the start (as a Faithful).

Faraaz, Stephen, Jade and Rachel voted for Ellie, swaying the vote.

Roxy went for James, Ellie and Matthew voted for Jade, and James and Jack wrote down Matthew.

Ellie made sure she confessed to her and Ross’ relationship before revealing to the group she was a Faithful!
