Stranger Things season 5 has officially begun on Netflix, but when do the next episodes come out, and how many are still to come?
Hawkins fell in the closing scenes of Stranger Things season 4. Vecna opened the rifts, unleashing the power of the Upside Down. With plumes of smoke casting a grey, dreadful sky over the town, Eleven and co. stood together, finally united and ready to fight back.
Three years later, we have finally made it to the release of season 5, marking the (beginning of the) end of one of the biggest and best Netflix TV shows.
Today (November 27), volume 1 premiered on Netflix with the first four episodes of Stranger Things’ fifth season. Whether you’ve already binged them or not, here’s when to expect the rest of the series.
Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 release date
New episodes of Stranger Things season 5 will be released on December 26 when volume 2 drops on UK Netflix.
The fifth season has been split into three volumes. Volume 1 has four episodes, while volume 2 will only have three episodes.

How many Stranger Things episodes are being released?
Stranger Things season 5 has a total of eight episodes.
Each season has either had eight or nine episodes, so this is pretty much par for the course. However, splitting a season into multiple parts is a relatively new trend for Netflix shows, coming after the success of season 4 being halved into two volumes.
The Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, explained to SFX: “In season 4, we weren’t aware that it was going to get split in two.
“But this time, we knew we were going to divide it into two, so it really is in two halves. Volume 1 really exists as its own mega-movie. It has its own climax.”

Every episode of Stranger Things season 5 will be released between now and New Year’s Day in 2026.
