Almost 10 years ago, four young nerds sat down to play Dungeons and Dragons. As they cycled home, one of them was snatched into a terrifying parallel dimension. Just as Hawkins took one of its children away, another emerged: Eleven, alone and scared in the rain.
This was the beginning of Stranger Things, one of the best shows Netflix has ever made, and arguably the biggest series it’s ever produced.

Stranger Things season 5 will premiere at 1am GMT on Thursday, November 27, on Netflix.
If you’re a fan, you may have seen a November 26 release date in trailers and on posters. However, that’s only true if you’re across the pond in the US and Canada, where it’s set to drop at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.
While viewers in North America will be able to watch it at a reasonable hour, UK fans will either need to stay up late, get up early, or pray it doesn’t get spoiled for them before they see any of it.

The Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, revealed Episode 1’s title all the way back in November 2022. According to the duo, the new season will “start pedal to the metal”.
“We’re not going to do the ramp-up. There’s no time. There’s no normalcy, obviously, once you’ve reached the end of four… it’s going to be intense from beginning to end,” they told Collider.

These are longer than traditional TV episodes, which tend to be anywhere between 44 minutes and one hour. However, it’s worth remembering that season 4 had similar runtimes.
Also, Matt Duffer has teased (via Variety) that episode 4 is “like a movie”.

What will happen in Stranger Things season 5?
Stranger Things season 5 will take place 18 months after the end of season 4, with Eleven, Mike, and co. living in a military quarantine in Hawkins after Vecna unleashed the power of the Upside Down.
“Our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,” the synopsis reads.
“But he has vanished – his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding,” it adds.
“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. However, the final battle is looming… and a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time.”
