What time is Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 out tonight? Christmas warning for UK fans
Stranger Things is about to take over households around the world this Christmas
Stranger Things season 5 volume 2, the highly anticipated penultimate batch of the Netflix show’s final series, is about to drop – and this is exactly what time it’ll release and come out for fans in the UK.
We are inching closer to the finale of one of Netflix’s best shows of all time – and volume 2 is set to be an absolute doozy this Christmas.
The first set of episodes saw Eleven and Hopper venture deep into the Upside Down, where they were reunited with an unexpected familiar face. Meanwhile, Holly (stuck in Vecna’s memories) teamed up with another familiar face, and Will finally came to terms with his true self – with extraordinary consequences.
For millions of people, Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 will be one of the most exciting parts of Christmas Day. However, it’s a bit different for UK fans.

Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 release date and time

Yes, that means it isn’t dropping on Christmas Day in the UK, despite what you may have read online. There is a simple explanation: volume 2 will be released on December 25 in the US, but it’s due to the time difference.

How many episodes are there in Stranger Things season 5 volume 2?
Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 has a total of three episodes. You can check out their titles below:
- Chapter Five: Shock Jock
- Chapter Six: Escape from Camazotz
- Chapter Seven: The Bridge
There are a couple of things to bear in mind. Firstly, Camazotz is Holly’s nickname for Vecna’s memory world, inspired by A Wrinkle in Time.
Secondly, Frank Darabont (the director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Walking Dead’s creator) is back for Episode 5.
“He flexes very different muscles on this one than he did on [Episode 3] Turnbow Trap – it’s far darker, and far scarier,” co-creator Ross Duffer said.

What happened in volume 1?
Stranger Things season 5 volume 1 ended with a jaw-dropping reveal: Will was able to use his connection to Vecna to channel powers of his own, stopping the demogorgons by tapping into the hive mind with telekinetic abilities.
In the final shot of the first volume, Will’s nose bled just like Eleven’s when she uses her powers. Vecna also told him he was easy to break, and that’s why he captures children. They’re weak, which makes them the “perfect vessels”.
Elsewhere, Eleven and Hopper found Kali – aka Eight, Eleven’s sister from season 2 episode 7 – being held prisoner in the Upside Down. It appeared that Dr Kay was using Kali’s powers to create Eleven’s Kryptonite: sonic sound waves that debilitate her.
Dustin had a tough time in volume 1. He made himself a target for bullies by dressing like Eddie, and he bickered with Steve all throughout the episodes.
Here’s the other big plot detail: Holly, Mike and Nancy’s little sister, was kidnapped by Vecna after a demogorgon nearly killed Karen, their mother.
Holly ended up in Vecna’s memories, and in a huge twist, she somehow met Max (who is still in a coma in the real world).

Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 predictions
Given that one of the episodes is called Escape from Camazotz, we’ll likely see Max and Holly try to find a way out of Vecna’s memories.
In the trailer, there is a shot of Lucas holding Max in the hospital as demodogs chase after them. Could it be that Vecna realises what Max is doing, so he sends his monsters to kill her in reality?
The question is, will the Mind Flayer return? It’s been widely predicted that the Mind Flayer is the true big bad of Stranger Things, and it’ll destroy Vecna once it achieves its goal of getting into the Rightside Up.
What about time travel? In volume 1, Mr Clarke spoke about wormholes and the possibility of being able to traverse space and time. Could that be what Vecna is trying to do?
Will anyone die? Murray is the top candidate, and while the Duffers have long insisted that Stranger Things isn’t as ruthless as Game of Thrones, someone could be killed off in volume 2.
“Don’t want to say too much, but aside from the finale, [Episode 7 is] probably the most emotional chapter of the season,” Ross Duffer teased.
When is the Stranger Things finale?
Stranger Things will conclude on January 1, 2026, in the UK.
The final episode is titled Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up, and it’ll be just over two hours long.
