Strictly bosses share Blackpool update as 'group of former show celebrities' return to BBC ballroom
They'll revisit 'some iconic routines', the BBC has confirmed
Strictly Come Dancing‘s Blackpool special may be a couple of weeks away, but viewers have revealed their delight after a statement was shared online by the BBC.
Strictly fans are overjoyed after the BBC announced that some of the show’s former celebrities will be returning to the ballroom for its annual Blackpool special.
The BBC dance show is due to decamp to Blackpool on Saturday November 22. And, on the results show on the Sunday, some of our favourite former show celebrities will return. They will revisit some “iconic routines” with the show’s amazing professional dancers.
Now, speculation is rife over who could return, and which routines they’ll be revisiting.

Ex Strictly celebs returning for Blackpool results show
According to the BBC website: “It’s back to Blackpool for the results as our couples find out if they’ve done enough to return next week.
“A group of former Strictly celebrities return to the dance floor to revisit some iconic routines with our professionals, and Lewis Capaldi performs.
“Two couples must dance again for their place in the competition. Who’s Strictly adventure will end at the Blackpool Tower?”

‘What a full circle moment for Dianne, Joe and their baby boy’
Fans of the show are now speculating over who could appear. Top of the list is pregnant Dianne Buswell and her partner Joe Sugg, who are expecting their first baby.
One fan said: “Please can Joe Sugg return because I would love to see Joe and Dianne back on the Strictly dance floor together.”
A second agreed and said: “A group of former celebrities returning to dance at Blackpool??? Uhmmm Joe and Dianne’s quickstep anyone? Please make it happen! What a full circle moment for Joe, Dianne and baby boy to share the Blackpool stage together.”
Other names have also started to appear on fans’ wish lists.
“Wait! Who? What? How?! I need to know and I need it to be Harry Judd and Jay McGuiness,” said one. “My picks are Jay McGuiness, Kimberley Walsh, Kimberly Wyatt, Hamza Yassin, Chris McCausland, Ellie Leach and Layton Williams,” said another.
“This is wildly exciting,” said another.
The BBC is remaining tight-lipped about who might appear, though. A spokesperson told our sister site Entertainment Daily: “Further details will be announced in due course.”
What’s so special about the Strictly Blackpool special?
Every year, the entire cast and crew of Strictly Come Dancing head to Blackpool for its annual special. The episode sees the stars dance in the iconic Tower Ballroom.
The famous ballroom dates back to 1894 and the present version of the ballroom opened in 1899. The dance floor is also sprung – which means it is supported underneath by springy wooden strips or foam, making the floor slightly bouncy to dance on.
It’s also around nine times bigger than the Elstree one, measuring 37m by 31m. The ballroom regularly hosts World and all-England dance championships, and the Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been held each year in the ballroom since 1964.
