Strictly Come Dancing: Update on Halloween special amid concerns it’s been cancelled
Icons Week is in the spot most thought the spooktacular would occupy…

Strictly Come Dancing fans have shared their outrage after the BBC appeared to cancel Halloween Week and replace it with this weekend’s Icons Week.
This Saturday (October 25), the remaining couples will take to the ballroom floor and pay tribute to their musical icons. However, with Saturday’s show falling days before Halloween, what’s happened to the annual spooktacular?

Strictly Halloween special will air after all!
This Saturday, Strictly Come Dancing fans will be given the fright of their lives as they sit down to watch the BBC ballroom dancing show. And that’s because they’ll find the remaining contestants taking part in Icons Week, not Halloween Week.
One posted on socials and asked: “Aren’t we getting a Halloween week this year?” Another shared: “So next week isn’t Halloween Week? I’m pretty sure I’ve read that it was meant to be…” A third commented: “I beg your pardon, no Halloween week?”
However, we can reveal that Halloween Week is very much happening… albeit after Halloween. We’ve learnt that Icons Week will take place this weekend, with the Halloween special airing the weekend after.
Phew!

Backlash over themed weeks
That means that Strictly’s Halloween Week spooktacular will air on Saturday November 1 – the day after Halloween.
Others have commented that the back-to-back theme weeks are getting a bit much now. Ex-Strictly pro Ola Jordan said this week that she feels he show needs to do less themed dances and go “back to basics”, performing more “core” Latin and ballroom routines.
Brendan Cole, meanwhile, begs to differ – and it sounds like he’ll be settling down to watch Strictly’s annual fright fest.

Brendan Cole ‘would have more’ themed weeks
He exclusively told Entertainment Daily, on behalf of Sky Vegas: “I’ve always loved the themed weeks. They’re my favourite because they add character and excitement, both for the audience and for the dancers. As a performer, it’s great to take on a character – especially a darker one – and really play with it.”
Brendan added: “Themed weeks are brilliant; I’d have more of them.”
Sounds like he’ll also be tuning into Icons Week, then!
