Strictly Come Dancing‘s George Clarke has made it to this week’s final with his version of the Inbetweeners dance – but it turns out he’s performed it before.

The social media star can be seen in an unearthed video as he mimics the iconic dance scene from the Inbetweeners Movie.

George looks unrecognisable in the old clip, which is from 2023, and it sees him taking on three of the characters in the 2011 film.

He does Will’s gallop – which featured in his Strictly Come Dancing Charleston – and Neil’s attempt at the robot. George also does Simon’s awful try at dancing, complete with his jerky arm movements.

Strictly’s George Clarke in Inbetweeners TikTok

The clip of George was shared to his TikTok account almost three years ago and he captioned it: “The only moves I know #fyp #foryou #viral #inbetweeners.”

It was liked 144,000 times and met with a flurry of comments. One follower replied: “AHAHHAHA you look like all of them.” Another added: “But why does he lowkey look like all of them?!”

Someone else has discovered the video since George’s semi-final performance and said: “He’s now doing this on Strictly…”

It is fair to say George looks quite different in the footage to how he does today. His hair is much shorter and he is free from any facial hair.

And even when wearing glasses like The Inbetweeners’ Will in the TikTok, he looks different to the same Will he portrayed on Saturday night.

George and his dance partner, Alexis Warr, performed their take on the Inbetweeners dance to the same track used in the film. It is We No Speak Americano by Australian band Yolanda Be Cool and producer DCUP.

They did a Charleston and even wore blue school uniform, like the characters in the movie. George also had a brief case like the one carried by Will, played by Simon Bird.

Although their dance was a Charleston, the pair still included many of the film scene’s iconic steps. George and Alexis did the elbow jabs and the same robot moves, in addition to Will’s gallops.

‘Best number yet’

The judges were impressed. Although strangely, none of them referenced the Inbetweeners link.

Shirley Ballas told George: “For me, personally, I think this is your best number yet.” Anton Du Beke added: “You’re so brilliant. Your partnering I’ve loved. I just thought this dance was you and the best of you.”

George and Alexis received an 8, 9 and two 10s. This gave them a score of 37. They then sailed through to this week’s final with Karen Carney and Carlos Gu on the public vote.

They will be competing with Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin, who made it through after a dance-off with Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.
