Ross King has been discussing all things Strictly Come Dancing – and revealed the secret behind his kilt.

The TV showbiz reporter, 63, also addressed accusations that he had been caught swearing during Sunday night’s Strictly: The Results show after learning he is safe for another week.

Ross made it through to Week 3 despite predictions saying otherwise and now the Hollywood expert faces Strictly Come Dancing 2025‘s Movie Week.

Strictly Come Dancing: Ross’ kilt secret

The Scottish entertainment reporter wore a kilt during his dance with pro partner Jowita Pryzstal on Saturday. It left some wondering what he was wearing underneath. Traditionally, Scotsmen never wear anything underneath their kilts.

On Monday, Ross was back on ITV’s Lorraine – the show he works for – to talk about Strictly. Asking the question on everyone’s minds, host Lorraine Kelly said to Ross: “Did you have pants on?” Neither confirming nor denying his fellow Scot presenter’s question, he did reveal a very clever secret about his Strictly costume. He confessed the entire outfit was an all-in-one “onesie” style outfit, which spared millions of viewers their blushes!

“The weirdest thing is they put you in almost like a onesie, so the shirt doesn’t pull up when you’re dancing,” Ross explained. Lorraine couldn’t believe it, asking her co-star, “So you stepped into your kilt, like a toddler?”

Addressing the elephant in the room, Ross admitted: “Everything was contained. I mean, everything was contained.”

Ross King swearing on Strictly Come Dancing

During Sunday night’s Results show, eagle-eyed fans were convinced they caught Ross turning the air blue. His girlfriend, Bridget Siegel, 43, was watching on as host Tess Daly revealed he and pro partner Jowita had made it through to Movie Week.

Fans were convinced Ross said “what the [bleep]” when it was revealed the couple had escaped elimination. But now he’s set the record straight, telling Lorraine that he didn’t swear whatsoever.

Ross said on Monday’s episode of Lorraine: “I didn’t swear, despite what people say. I did not swear. It was a genuine shock, because I was pretty sure that, you know, we’d be in the dance off.” At the end of his segment with Lorraine, Ross mentioned the swearing again.

“No swearing,” he teased, for next week’s appearance. Having her pal’s back, Lorraine added: “You would never swear live on television. Never in a million years.”

What is Ross King dancing to in Movie Week?

This weekend, the couples tackle Movie Week. We already know a few of the films themes and songs the celebrities with be dancing to on in the live episode – including Ross and Jowita’s.

The pair will be dancing the Paso Doble in a Thunderbirds inspired routine. The Paso Doble is a dramatic ballroom dance mimicking a bullfight, often complete with a cape. Ross also mentioned this on Lorraine.

He teased: “Thunderbirds. I think I’m going to be a Thunderbird. I’m a puppet. He’s a puppet. I’ll be alright… my moves will be a bit stiff.” Ross didn’t give much detail, but Lorraine warned the Paso Doble was going to be a “tough one”.

Who left Strictly Come Dancing?

Ross paid tribute to Tom Skinner and Amy Dowden, who were the first couple eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

During her exit speech, Amy – who is in recovery from breast cancer – said of Tom: “What I’ve learned in the last few years is happiness, health, being alive. It’s more important than anything in friendships, and I’ve got a new friend for life. And if I’m honest with you, I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Lorraine commented: “That’s lovely, isn’t it? That’s how to do it.” Ross added: “Yeah, with class, she’s such a classy lady. And farewell, Tom. He was a bit of a laugh our Tom, but well done Amy, absolutely brilliant.”

Addressing his other co-stars, Ross continued: “Alex Kingston, I thought, was absolutely sincere. So good and such a classy lady. With Johannes as well. They bring just that right amount of class.”

Ross gets emotional about Strictly

Ross told Lorraine the real reason he’s taking part in Strictly, sharing that he wants to “encourage people of a certain age to just go there and enjoy it”. He added: “If I can get out there and do it. So can you, I mean, it is lucky that I’m having one of the best dancers in the world to help me, eight hours a day.

“Thank you to Team Lorraine here, people in Scotland who voted, all the people who voted yes, every member of the public, the feedback has been, yeah.”

Lorraine passionately said of her pal: “You are what the show is all about. The show is not about amazing dancers. That’s lovely to watch when somebody you know, the celebrity part of it is a good dancer. That’s fantastic, but at the heart of this show is somebody doing something that is totally out of their comfort zone.”

When is Strictly back on?

Ross King returns to Strictly Come Dancing next Saturday when the celebrity couples face week 3’s Movie Week.
