Strictly Come Dancing pro Carlos Gu admitted he was feeling emotional as he shared his support for his celeb partner Karen Carney.

Last Saturday (October 25), the pair performed a Rumba and found themselves second to last on the leaderboard with a total score of 28. Despite a fairly high score, Karen seemed a little disappointed. Even host Claudia Winkleman had to step in to support her.

On the plus side, she managed to avoid the dreaded bottom two after being saved by the public.

Strictly star Carlos Gu supports Karen Carney

During an appearance on BBC Two’s It Takes Two tonight (October 30), host Janette Manrara asked Carlos what it is like having a celeb partner “who is so self-critical”.

“It’s a good thing and a bad thing,” he admitted as Carlos explained that Karen is very critical of herself in the training room.

However, on the night, Carlos believed Karen “did well”. While putting his arms around her, he admitted he felt “emotional” after she had been telling herself that she “could have done better”.

While supporting her, Carlos assured her: “That’s life!” Janette also came to her defense, stating: “You were brilliant!”

Karen appreciated the compliments and thanked the pair.

‘I’m very excited about this week’s dance’

After being saved by the public, Karen took to Instagram and thanked everyone who voted for her.

“Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU,” she wrote.

“Your support has got @gkx_carlos and I through to another week and I am so grateful. But I’m so sad to see @official_jfhasselbaink and @laurenmayoakley leave – we’ll miss you.”

Karen continued: “Thank you all for the kind words, I read them all and they give me a boost. Can’t wait to get started again tomorrow… I’m VERY excited for this week’s dance to the theme of Peaky Blinders!!”

This Saturday, for Halloween Week, Karen and Carlos will perform an Argentine Tango to Red Right Hand by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
