Strictly star Brendan Cole defends Ross King for 'dreadful' performance
'This is the show's problem!'Former Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendan Cole has defended Ross King, insisting he was given a “dreadful” performance last weekend.
During Sunday’s (October 12) show, Ross and dance partner Jowita Przystal were the second contestants to be voted off the show. On Saturday night, they found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 19.
Last weekend was Movie Week, where Ross King and Jowita performed a Paso Doble to the Thunderbirds Theme. They faced the bottom two alongside Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon, who were saved by the judges.

While discussing this year’s series in a new interview, Brendan revealed that Strictly’s producers are ‘ruining’ the show for fans. He competed on the BBC programme between 2004 and 2017.
“This is the show’s problem by deciding who performs what,” he told The Sun.
“If they’re going to make decisions like the one they made for Ross King and Jowita Przystał – what a dreadful decision. What a dreadful outfit, dreadful theme, dreadful dance – dreadful all around.”
While coming to Ross’ defense, the 49-year-old added: “Even though he performed what he’d been given quite well, there was no way he could have saved himself from the dance-off because the whole concept and dance was absolute rubbish.”
Brendan insisted that “if you’re going to have a Thunderbirds theme and the couple commit to it completely, dancing around like wooden puppets, then you’re only going to get one result”.
‘There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude’
Following his emotional exit, Ross took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt statement.
While sharing photos with this year’s cast, Ross revealed he had loved his experience. “There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for this amazing opportunity,” he said.
“Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me – the Strictly cast and crew, friends, family, my wonderful dance partner Jowita, and most importantly, to the fans.”
He concluded: “You kept me inspired with your kind words and kept me in the competition with your votes. I hope like me, you’ve been inspired to try something new and as always, keep dancing!”
