Strictly chaos as bug rips through cast and concerns shared for pro dancer: 'He totally deteriorated'

Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison has revealed that a “horrible bug” has ripped through the cast of the BBC show this week, with partner Kai Widdrington “totally deteriorating” in the space of a couple of hours.
Vicky appeared on her Get A Grip podcast with Angela Scanlon yesterday (October 9) and shared the news. It came after Vicky and Kai pulled out of an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two earlier this week, sparking concerns that she’d exited the entire series due to illness.
Strictly chaos as illness ravages cast
Vicky, 37, told Angela that she has felt poorly this week. However, she “wasn’t sure if that was from actual illness, anxiety over getting ill, or the culmination of the amount of work she’s doing at the moment”.
She then added: “There is some horrible bug going around that is sweeping through the Strictly pros and dancers. Kai got it, came into rehearsals yesterday and he just totally deteriorated over a space of hours. In the end I was like: ‘Please go home because I’m now worried I’m going to get it.'”
Vicky then shared: “Then I started feeling ill. Scratchy throat, getting hot and cold, aches and pains. Sometimes I’m not sure if I’m actually ill or if I’m so scared I’m going to be ill.
“So, I went home, stuffed myself full of ginger, turmeric, first defence, all that. Fell asleep, woke up, actually did feel ill, felt fluey, did the same again, woke up today and I feel alright, but I’m just alright, not 100%.”
Concluding her health update, she shared: “So it’s just the worst week for it mate….I am overwhelmed and blue.”

‘Miscommunication’ cleared up
Earlier this week, Vicky shared a selfie and cleared up confusion over her future in the competition.
She said: “There seems to have a bit of a miscommunication! @kaiwidd was poorly earlier on in the week and I wasn’t 110% so we had to pull out of our weekly appearance on It Takes Two… that’s it.
“I have not dropped out of Strictly… I’m having a lovely time and really grateful for this experience! Plus, Kai is feeling better now so we’re back in the rehearsal room AND back on It Takes Two tonight… just thought I’d clear that up.”
Vicky and Kai then appeared on It Takes Two on Thursday night. She confirmed she is well enough to perform this week. And she will be performing a Charleston to the song A Little Party Never Killed Nobody, in a The Great Gatsby themed performance for Movie Week.
‘Exhausted little troll’
She also posted a behind-the-scenes snap, showing “both sides of the coin” when it comes to her Strictly experience.
“Lads it’s been a WEEK… Strictly rehearsals, mystery bug, VTs, Erc [her husband] away, my clothing collection launch… and I just don’t want anyone thinking I look too glam to give a damn all the time.
“I just thought it was important to show you all both sides of the coin… she LOVES to be a glam girly don’t get me wrong but there’s a hell of a lot of the time I look more like an exhausted little troll.”
