The Capture series 3: Who is the new Commander Noah Pierson, and did he really just kill off a main character?!
We're hooked already!
The Capture series 3 has finally arrived after what felt like a very long four years, but it was definitely worth the wait – the conspiracy thriller just killed off a main character AND introduced nefarious Commander Noah Pierson. And that was just in the first episode.
After the shady events of The Capture series 1 and 2, DI Rachel Carey returned tonight (Sunday, March 08, 2026) and, this time, she was Acting Commander of counter- terrorism. But not for long. The new Commander soon turned up, and that’s where it got REALLY interesting.
So who is Commander Noah Pierson in The Capture? And is he really ready to pit himself against the dogged truth-seeker Rachel Carey? Here’s a deep dive in the revelations of episode 1.
***Warning: spoilers from The Capture series 3 episode 1 ahead***

What happened in The Capture series 3 episode 1?
The tagline for the new series is: “Don’t believe what you see. In the terrifying world of deepfake technology, just who is pulling the strings?”
And it is spot on. By the end of the first episode, Rachel Carey didn’t know who the hell to trust. But it certainly wasn’t her new boss.
Whistleblower and former detective Rachel Carey was ready to launch a revolutionary new camera network capable of catching live deep-fakes in action. With the home secretary Isaac Turner’s support, the changes signalled a new dawn in UK counter-terrorism policing. That was until a terror attack in central London sent shockwaves through the nation, leaving Rachel the one key eyewitness.
What is ‘Correction’ in The Capture?
In series 1 of The Capture, ‘Correction’ was introduced as an advanced deepfake technology managed by specialist teams in the British Intelligence Services and CIA to secure convictions. They used images from defendants’ social media profiles to create incriminating CCTV footage. In short, ‘Correction’ is when intelligence agencies take something they don’t like, and change it.
As series 3 begun, Rachel Carey described it as: “Correction is a method of real-time image manipulation, using the disruption of camera feeds and the deployment of deep-fake technology.” And it’s all “sanctioned by British intelligence”.
DI Rachel Carey subsequently uncovered the conspiracy at the end of series 2. She realised that the intelligence agency manipulated CCTV to plant evidence against suspects they believe are guilty. She learnt that a secret government unit manipulated live video feeds to create incriminating evidence.
However, MI5 said they weren’t “faking” evidence. Rather they were “re-enacting” events to lead to a conviction. After the thrilling events of episode 1, it’s clear ‘Correction’ hasn’t gone away.

What is Operation Veritas?
In episode 1 of The Capture series 3, Acting Commander Rachel Carey told us: “The question we asked ourselves a year ago has become even more urgent. How do we sort fact from fiction. How can we believe what we see?”
She revealed a new counter-technology to help fight ‘Correction’. She revealed: “Operation Veritas is a smart surveillance camera designed to detect cyber attacks and deep fakes in real time.”
Each camera has two lenses. One feeds a signal into their encrypted network. The other to the camera’s hard drive which records internally offline – so cannot be hacked. Then, any subsequent discrepancy between the signals is flagged.
With deepfakes becoming easier to create and harder to detect, Rachel believed her new cameras could help people to trust what they saw. And we saw it working first hand in the opening scenes, when a Russian black-ops tried to illegally enter the UK using video manipulation ‘Correction’.
And, no, against everyone else’s wished, Rachel will not be calling the operation Carey-cam instead.
Who is Noah Pierson in The Capture?
Acting Commander Rachel was told the new Commander would be arriving to take over. Her rather smug bosses told her the department “could benefit from someone with more experience at multi-agency level”. They added: “Someone more used to collaborating with other entities.”
They wanted Rachel to be the “fave” but not the “head” of the counter-terrorism unit. Killian Scott’s Noah Pierson was later revealed to be the new Commander in The Capture. And it was a jaw-drop moment. As Rachel Carey had JUST seen him murder the Home Secretary Isaac Turner – and then use ‘Correction’ to cover his tracks.
Talking about the new character Noah Pierson in The Capture, creator Ben Chanan told us: “Noah Pierson is probably my favourite character I’ve written for the show. He is deeply mysterious and disagreeable. ‘Who is Noah Pierson?’ is the central mystery of the series. He appears one way, then another, keeping audiences guessing. Killian Scott nails the role, delivering believable action and dramatic intensity. From the moment he read, we knew he was right.”

Did Noah Pierson kill Home Secretary Isaac Turner in The Capture?
Well, the short answer is, yes! It would certainly appear so…
Everything went wrong for Acting Commander Rachel Carey when she launched her new technology to press and news channels. And when we say wrong, we mean a body of count of five – including her old ally Isaac Turner.
This time, Isaac was Home Secretary, and a shoe-in for the next Prime Minster. When the current PM announced he wasn’t standing for re-election, Isaac was the next in-line. And, when Isaac attended Rachel’s very public launch of Operation Veritas to support her, the press saw it as their chance to speak to him about his future role.
But embarrassingly, at the event to launch anti-Correction technology, a man strolled in, disrupted all the cameras and CCTV, and shot Isaac Turner in the head. He also took out four armed officers while he was at it. And he didn’t even bother wearing a mask – so confident was he that he would be able to manipulate the any shots of him with deep-fake technology.
The killer knocked out the power supply, cut out the live broadcast, and sabotaged the CCTV. However, one person saw him face to face. In fact, he walked straight up to Rachel Carey, but chose not to kill her. She got a very good look at his face so, when some doctored images were released of the shooter, she knew it wasn’t him.
And when she met her new Commander Noah Pierson, she looked the killer straight in the eye again. How’s that for a twist?!
So why did the new Commander of counter-terrorism Noah Pierson shoot Isaac Turner in The Capture series 3? And who is the poor sod they are trying to set up with their deepfake images?
Biggest bombshells about Noah Pierson in The Capture series 3 episode 1:
- Home Secretary and future PM Isaac Turner was shot dead in front of dozens of press. None of whom managed to get the tragedy on camera.
