The Chase Around The World is a brand new spin-off on ITV – and here’s how it works ahead of its start tonight.

Dubbed a “global quiz adventure”, Bradley Walsh is escaping his dark Hertfordshire studio and taking The Chase on a world tour.

He’ll have the familiar faces of The Chasers for company and six new teams ready to take them on.

“But how on earth with his new format work?” we hear you cry.

Fear not. Here, we explain exactly how The Chase Around The World works and which countries the show will be visiting.

The Chase Around The World: How does it work?

The Chase’s main man, Bradley Walsh, is heading off on a road trip. And he has all The Chasers in tow.

The gang will be travelling across the world as six pairs of new contestants take on the challenge of a lifetime. But have they got what it takes?

The Chasers will begin by setting the players a series of quiz questions, puzzles and cryptic clues. And in order to navigate across a city and find Bradley at the finish line, all they have to do is solve them.

The contestants will take in some iconic landmarks as they race to the finish, but there won’t be time for sightseeing. There is a lot at stake!

The pair that is last to find Bradley at the finish line will have to take on The Chasers in a “question off”. If they win, happy days – on they continue with a time advantage. They can pick who leaves the starting line last in the next city.

But if they lose, the team is sent home immediately.

Explaining The Chase Around The World, Bradley says: “I would describe it as The Chase… but around the world! It’s out and about.

“It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I’ve been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!”

Where is The Chase Around The World filmed?

The Chase Around The World has been filmed in six different European countries. The series begins in Rome, Italy. The Chasers leading the first round will be Anne Hegerty – aka The Governess – and Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett.

They will set the contestants their questions and puzzles to solve. The pair will also be the first to take on the losing team at the finish line.

The quiz will continue in five other tourist hotspots. It will visit Athens in Greece, Paris in France, Spain’s Barcelona and Lisbon in Portugal. The most daring, however, will see the teams racing in Piz Gloria, which is 10,000ft up in the Swiss Alps!

Fans of James Bond will recognise the iconic location in Switzerland from the movie, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Bradley particuarly enjoyed filming there. He says: “It was really cool, but not just because it was an iconic filming location.

“What made it extra special was that we were sitting having some lunch there when, all of a sudden, these people, who had just been up there visiting, started singing this yodelling-type song. And they just sat there singing. It was amazing!”

Who are the contestants? What is the prize?

Six teams of two will take part in The Chase Around The World. All we know so far is that they are:

  • Nicola and Maddie – mother and daughter.
  • Sisters Kati and Amy.
  • Dilan and Emily, who are newly-engaged.
  • David and Steven – father and son.
  • Friends Matt and Cerys.
  • Ashwin and Nikita – father and daughter.

They all have their eyes firmly on the prize. And it’s no wonder – the prize is £100,000!

Which Chasers will be taking part?

Good news; all six Chasers from The Chase are taking part in The Chase Around The World.

The Governess and The Beast will be joined by:

  • Paul Sinha – Sinnerman.
  • Jenny Ryan – The Vixen.
  • Shaun Wallace – The Dark Destroyer.
  • Darragh Ennis – The Menace.
