The Masked Singer 2026 has burst onto our screens and four stars have already been unmasked – but fans have been left with the same complaint.

The wacky singing show returned to ITV on the weekend and viewers were treated to performances from a range of weird and wonderful characters.

These included Toastie, Arctic Fox and the cute – and slightly creepy – Can of Worms.

But many disgruntled viewers were left with the same complaint during both Saturday and Sunday’s launch shows.

The Masked Singer: Fan complaint

The Masked Singer’s host, Joel Dommett, always reads out clues after each performance to help fans with guessing the famous singer’s identity.

But as this year’s series got underway, there appeared to be a technical glitch with the sound. This meant viewers at home were struggling to hear what was being said.

Taking to Reddit, one fan asked: “Is anyone else struggling to hear all the clues this year. The audio is off?”

One viewer replied: “I don’t think I heard a single clue there.” Another added: “I’ve felt the same! We’ve had to put on the subtitles…”

And a third agreed: “I thought it was just cause ‘I’ve got the flu and my heads all stuffy, glad to know it’s not just me.”

Who was unmasked on The Masked Singer?

The two launch shows of The Masked Singer 2026 were bumper editions when it came to singers being unmasked. But whose identity has already been revealed?

Saturday night’s show kicked off with a first, which was a performance from a Masked Singer Band. The group was called No Trout – a play on No Doubt – and featured a Goldfish as the lead singer.

Midway through the show, Goldfish was unmasked as pop star Anne-Marie. She then joined Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross on the panel for the rest of the show.

The next character to be unmasked was Disc Jockey. She was revealed to be presenter of The One Show, Alex Jones.

Sunday’s episode started in similar style with a Masked Singer band called the Antarctic Funkeys. The group’s lead singer, Emperor Penguin, was then revealed to be comedian Matt Lucas.

The fourth unmasking of the weekend came at the end of the second show. This was Teabag, who turned out to be rapper Professor Green.

We needed a lie down after all of that!

When is The Masked Singer on next?

The Masked Singer returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Saturday 10 January, 2026. The show will start at the slightly later time of 7pm and it is a Sports Day special.

Joining Mo, Davina, Maya and Jonathan on the panel is former international cricketer Freddie Flintoff. You can expect some interesting outfits from the judges, as they get their sport on!

In a change to the format, The Masked Singer will only be on for one night this weekend. As a result, expect to only see half of the remaining acts take to the stage. One of them will then be unmasked.

Invested already? We are.
