Princess Andre is on a mission to find a new man in the latest series of The Princess Diaries – but why did she split from her boyfriend?

The 18-year-old star previously opened up about her heartbreak following the end of her first serious relationship, admitting she was left feeling “lost and confused”.

They had been together for two years and, during that time, Princess kept his identity a secret from the public eye.

But why did they break-up?

Here, as Princess returns to ITV2 for the second series of The Princess Diaries, we unearth what happened.

Why did Princess Andre split with her boyfriend?

Princess and her boyfriend first went public with their romance in June 2023. During the relationship, Princess shared a loved-up post online captioned: “10 months. I love you.”

However, the young couple eventually grew apart, bringing the relationship to an end.

In May 2025, a source told The Sun that Princess was “concentrating on her career”.

Princess later addressed the breakup on the first season of her reality show, admitting she was still struggling to move on. During a scene where she reconnects with a childhood friend, she confessed she wasn’t ready to start dating again.

“I wouldn’t say I’m over the situation because I’m not,” she said. She explained that ending such a long relationship had been difficult. “A two-year relationship is quite a long time.”

Princess continued: “I’m just a bit lost and confused with what I want.”

The teenager admitted she couldn’t honestly say she had fully moved on: “I would be lying saying I was 100% over my ex,” she said.

Princess Andre on dating apps

Viewers will see Princess explore dating again in the new series of The Princess Diaries, which started on Sunday (March 8) on ITV2.

In an interview ahead of the series premiere, she revealed that her brother Junior’s girlfriend Jasmine encouraged her to try a dating app.

However, Princess admitted she found the experience overwhelming. She called the whole process “so stressful”, explaining she would rather focus on enjoying life and letting romance happen naturally.

“I’m just doing my thing, and if dates come along, they come along. For now, I’m concentrating on me,” she said.

‘There are some lovely boys out there’

In episode 2 of the new series, Princess speaks to a reporter about her love life. She says: “I’m not dating at the moment. Just working hard, living my life and enjoying it. If I naturally meet someone, I’m sure it’ll be on the show. As of now I’m just living my life and focussing on work and doing my thing. I can assure you I’m single right now but if I do get a boyfriend you’ll be the first to know.”

She also speaks to pal Heidi Katona – Kerry’s daughter – about her love life. “My mum’s had so many people doing her so wrong. Growing up seeing that, it’s given me a proper eye-opener of what people can really be like. Because of that reason, my guard is up,” she explained.

“I’m just happy being single and I don’t want to get into another relationship yet. Don’t get me wrong, there are some lovely boys out there. When you’re in the public eye, you have to be a lot more aware of the things you do. It’ll definitely take someone special for me to tell the world and post and speak about.”
