Harriet is a former barrister who now works as a crime writer and eagle-eyed viewers are certain she is underneath the red cloak.
As we patiently wait until the next episode of The Traitors, here’s a deep dive into all the clues and evidence that people claim point to the author being the Secret Traitor.
The Traitors: Is Harriet Tyce the Secret Traitor?
Harriet has decided to deliberately hide the fact she is a former barrister from her fellow Traitors contestants. She made a conscious decision to keep it a secret before heading to Ardross Castle in Scotland.
But she was quick to home in on fellow barrister Hugo’s profession. During the latest Round Table, Harriet told him: “It has occurred to me from the moment I found out you are a barrister that you would be a prime target for the Traitors to take out.
“You have experience at cross-examination, you are good a presenting your case and you are highly articulate.”
Harriet wrote down Hugo’s name at the banishment, as did the majority of the contestants. This led to his exit from the BBC show.
Writing on X, one fan said: “Can’t stop thinking about Harriet as the Secret Traitor now. She could really have played it perfectly getting rid of the fellow barrister and cementing her position as a Faithful to the group so early in the game. She made Hugo her prime target.”
The Traitors Experience Live
Before making her on-screen TV debut in The Traitors, Harriet was off playing the game elsewhere. In November 2025, she took part in The Traitors Experience Live in London with a group of her crime author friends.
The writers were all unaware that she had filmed the BBC show in the summer and she confidently took on the role of a Traitor.
Author CL Taylor wrote on Instagram at the time: “I was onto one of the Traitors (Harriet Tyce!) and survived one attempted murder by having a hidden shield but also falsely accused Clare Mackintosh and Jenny Blackhurst and helped get them banished (sorry about that faithfuls!).
“Harriet finally murdered me and I went to the watching room and discovered that Anna and Rachel were the two other Traitors. I had no idea!”
Since spotting her on The Traitors on the Beeb, CL has since said: “Excellent work, @harriet_tyce. ‘Sured up my position as a Faithful’? Are those the words of a Secret Traitor?”

Harriet’s Uncloaked portrait
Viewers of The Traitors also think a strategically placed portrait has also confirmed Harriet is the Secret Traitor. During Saturday night’s episode of the BBC spin-off show, fans were quick to point it out.
Former Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns was seen sitting on a brown leather sofa with three portraits hanging behind her. They were of Rachel, Stephen and Harriet.
Rachel and Stephen are the two remaining Traitors in the show. Is there a reason why Harriet’s picture is hanging so close to theirs?!
One fan said on X: “She was already my prediction, now I am wondering even more.”
The Secret Traitor will be revealed in the next episode of The Traitors, which starts at 8pm on BBC One on Wednesday (January 7, 2025). Will it be Harriet? We can’t wait to find out!
