Ever since episode one, fans have been convinced that many of the contestants are connected this season. And so far, quite a few have already been confirmed.
But aside from the confirmed ones, fans have taken to social media to weigh in on who else may have an off-screen connection, as many think a huge twist is coming. And body language expert Darren Stanton also believes there have been a few signs that others may know each other away from the castle.
So, let’s have a look at every single potential off-screen connection.
Who has been confirmed to have off-screen relationships?
So far, there have actually been a few confirmed off-screen relationships. Ross and Netty were very quickly confirmed to have known each other on the outside.
While Netty revealed it to the group, Ross has admitted he wasn’t actually going to bring it up. And on Tuesday (January 6), he took to his social media to share exactly how they know each other.
Another confirmed connection was between Judy and Roxy. The mother-daughter duo tried to keep their relationship secret, but fans noticed it immediately when Roxy accidentally slipped up, calling Judy her mum.
In the latest bombshell, Faithful Ellie revealed that Ross, who was banished at the round table, is, in fact, her boyfriend last night (January 7).
As of right now, they are the only absolutely confirmed connections. But fans have noticed quite a few clues that indicate others know each other on the outside world.
Could Faraaz and Maz be father and son?
Banished star Judy spoke about the possibility of there being more connections. And she seems convinced that one of them must be Faraaz and Maz.
She revealed that a few of The Traitors contestants had already been speculating that they have quite a few similarities.
Judy said: “I think there could be more secret connections. There was a lot of speculation when I was in there about Faraaz and Maz. Are they son and dad? We kept thinking that.”
Amanda and Reece’s body language hints at off-screen connection
But on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton revealed that he thinks there are other contestants on The Traitors who have connections. And they’re body language gives them away.
He believes that Amanda and Reece “could be related” due to their behaviour on the show.
Darren explained: “He has got a very asserted nature and those two seem to have a deep connection and rapport. She’s a cop and they’re both forthright and very direct. They have similar personality traits.
“It could be nephew and auntie, or mother and son. But those two stand out to me in terms of the level of similarity, gestures and forthrightness.”
Hugo and Fiona are another possibility
Another pair that Darren believes could have an off-screen connection is Fiona and Hugo. And it’s not just because they’re both Welsh.
He explained: “I think they are playing a sort of strategy. They are very similar in gestures. Before Hugo was banished, he was playing it down, while Fiona was on the offensive. I noticed Hugo when Fiona was speaking to him. He adopted a horseshoe smile, which is a reverse upside down smile.
“Sometimes, in certain contexts, this could be a deceptive gesture. He was unconsciously making that gesture. It could be a way to double bluff and throw people off the scene. But a person being accused of being a Traitor would usually go on the offensive.”
Darren noted that it was “interesting” how Hugo let “Fiona have her moment” and this “level of respect” could indicate a prior relationship.
Are Jessie and James brother and sister?
As the series has continued, viewers have been pointing out other theories for connections.
Following their close on-screen bond, speculation that Jessie and James are siblings is currently growing.
“I’m starting to see secret connections everywhere now, but Jessie can’t be jumping into the arms of someone she met 3 days ago like that and they know each other?” one user wrote on X, referring to James.
In response, another person shared: “They’re 100% brother and sister, the way he said “I’m so proud of you” to her as well.”
“Surely Jessie and James are brother and sister?” another questioned.
“I feel like Jessie and Reece are friends or maybe siblings. I feel like they know each other outside the castle,” yet another insisted.
Maz and Amanda
Fans of The Traitors have also come up with a new theory about contestants Maz and Amanda.
Viewers were surprised when Maz revealed more about his past during last night’s show. Although he had previously been described as a civil servant, he later shared that he once worked as a police officer. This detail quickly led some fans to question whether he may have crossed paths with Amanda, who is also a former detective.
“I am a retired police officer,” Maz said in the diary room during Wednesday’s (7 January) episode. “Pressure, you know, I’ve dealt with the majority of my life. What can they possibly throw at me that would even equate to what I faced in the police?”
Before this moment, Maz had only been known to the other contestants as a civil servant. Amanda, meanwhile, has not told her fellow players about her own background, choosing to keep her previous career as a detective private.
“Maz is a retired police officer? DOES HE KNOW AMANDA??!” one viewer immediately shared.
“I’m now convinced Maz and Amanda have worked together.. these links are everywhere I swear this series!” another insisted.
Could everyone be connected on The Traitors?
While it has not been confirmed, a lot of fans are theorising that everyone in the castle actually has a link to someone. And this year, there could be a twist involving that.
Taking to X, one fan posted a photo of the family tree, and wrote: “I have a theory that everyone is linked somehow. The tree is convincing me even more.”
Another had the same theory. They penned: “I think all the contestants on The Traitors are linked in some way or anything. With the family tree, and the fact there are two confirmed connections already.”
“I agree. There has to be a significance with the family tree art. Maybe there will be a huge twist ahead” a third commented.
