Traitors viewers predict 'Harriet-style breakdown' from Matthew following tonight's murder
'Matthew will think they recruited someone that’s not him'The Traitors last night (January 14) delivered Series 4’s most explosive episode yet — and viewers are now predicting even more fireworks to come, this time from Matthew.
During Wednesday night’s show, Faithful Harriet’s plan to get Traitor Rachel murdered backfired on her.
At the breakfast table, Harriet didn’t hold back, boldly confronting Rachel and insisting she had identified her as a Traitor.
Instead of quietly planting doubt, Harriet went all in — first at breakfast and then again at the round table — even revealing her profession as a crime writer and former barrister in an attempt to lend weight to her accusations.
However, the aggressive approach didn’t work in her favour. The other Faithfuls voted Harriet out, believing she was a Traitor, and it was only after her banishment that she revealed she had been loyal all along.

The Traitors next murder plans
Elsewhere in the episode, the group faced a mission offering immunity shields. In a dramatic twist, seven shields were claimed, significantly reducing the prize pot and leaving uncertainty over who would be protected from the Traitors’ next murder.
The group decided not to fully reveal who secured a shield, leaving the Traitors — Rachel and Stephen — in the dark about exactly which players were protected.
That meant when the Traitors chose someone to murder instead of recruit, they were essentially guessing blind: if they targeted a shielded player, the murder would fail.
When they reunited in the turret, Rachel and Stephen debated about murdering Sam, James, Adam and Jessie.
Little to their knowledge, both James and Jessie were both safe from murder. However, viewers are confident they will try and attempt to murder one of them.
This is where Matthew comes in. During last Wednesday’s episode, he won the chance to speak to the Traitors as they stood behind a confessional. He openly asked to be recruited as a Traitor, believing it would strengthen his position in the game.
He tried to make a pact with the Traitors, asking them to turn down seducing anyone next and murdering Jessie.
However, when they are asked to seduce and recruit again, he wants them to pick him. The Traitors said they had a deal with Matthew.

‘Matthew will think they recruited someone that’s not him’
If Stephen or Rachel attempts to murder Jessie or James, no one will leave the show. Viewers are predicting that Matthew might have a similar outburst to Harriet after he believes someone else was recruited.
“If they murder Jessie or James and it backfires on the shield, Matthew will think they recruited someone that’s not him… he’s going to have a Harriet-style breakdown at breakfast,” one user wrote on X.
“Ooh yes!” another person replied.
“Please let this happen, let the extravagant meltdowns and drama continue,” a third remarked.
“HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS LMAOOOOO OMG,” a fourth said.
“They have messed up, they should have seduced Matthew and then just let him be voted out,” another insisted.
