Traitors star Rachel Duffy adds fuel to feverish speculation Matty Hyndman is actually her brother

Are the pair related?

Traitors star Rachel Duffy has done nothing to quash swirling rumours that Matty Hyndman is her real-life brother.

Rachel is currently one of two Traitors in the BBC show and fans are convinced she is related to Matty.

Viewers have been speculating throughout the series that many of the players are linked to each other.

And they think Rachel and Matty are siblings.

The Traitors: Are Rachel and Matty related?

One fan of the BBC show shared on Reddit: “I think Matthew and Rachel could be brother and sister, but that is based almost entirely on them both coming from Northern Ireland!”

Another added over on X: “Is Matthew Rachel’s brother? Both Irish… I think they’re in it together.”

Someone else agreed: “Yes that’s what exactly what I’m thinking.”

Right at the start of the series, Judy made the shock revelation that Roxy is her daughter.

Nothing, however, came of it as Judy was the first Faithful to be banished from the Round Table.

Ellie also revealed Ross – who has also been banished – is her boyfriend.

Fans are now convinced there are even more connections in Ardross Castle, especially after the appearance of a family tree on the wall.

Rachel has now spoken out amid the rumours about her being Matty’s sister. And she hasn’t denied it.

The mother-of-three, who works in communications, has shared a post on Instagram that reads: “The Northern Irish link: Dating rumours are flying, but Rachel is married with three kids!

“Could she be a secret sibling? Lying about your hometown is a classic move.”

Rachel has commented on the post saying: “Rumour mill on fire.” She’s also added a ‘fire’ emoji for good measure.

Matty’s demand to The Traitors

Viewers are counting down the minutes until they can tune in to tonight’s episode of The Traitors. The show was left on a huge cliffhanger last week and fans can’t wait to see what happens.

Funnily enough, the drama centres around Matty, Rachel and her fellow Traitor, Stephen Libby.

Matty won the chance to speak directly with the Traitors in the last episode. He couldn’t identify them, but knew exactly what he wanted.

Matty has asked to make a deal; they kill fellow Faithful Jessie Stride next and then ‘seduce’ him into their Traitor fold.

The episode ended with Rachel posting hers and Stephen’s handwritten answer back to him…

Viewers will finally get to find out whether they agree to his demands or not in tonight’s episode (Wednesday January 14, 2026).

“So what time does it start?” we hear you cry. The show kicks off on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm.
