Traitors star Paul Gorton has exclusively revealed to TV Guide that he is concerned for Traitor Stephen in an exclusive interview.

Last week (January 1), the hit BBC programme returned for the long-awaited Series 4. Ever since, viewers have been gripped.

The game show, fronted by Claudia Winkleman, quickly spiced things up, introducing a Secret Traitor. Currently, both viewers and the Traitors are completely unaware of who they are.

Tomorrow night (January 7), the Secret Traitor’s identity will finally be revealed.

Traitors star issues concerns for Stephen

During the show’s launch, Claudia picked her three Traitors — Hugo, Rachel and Stephen. So far, only Hugo has been caught.

However, as the game continues to unfold, Paul, who played as a Traitor during Series 2, isn’t confident he will make it much further…

Earlier in the series, Stephen was part of a group of small group of contestants who lost a challenge and were separated from the rest of the players. That same night, one of them was murdered.

As the Faithfuls began analysing the murder, they became convinced that at least one Traitor must have been among that losing group. With the numbers in the castle continuing to shrink, Paul believes this logic will eventually put Stephen under intense suspicion.

“Stephen’s a little bit on touchy ground at the moment,” he told TV Guide on behalf of 10bet Casino.

“He’s had a little bit of a dungeon moment, as I had in Series 2, where it might just keep pointing back to him who was in the room with Ross. You know, like, ‘You must be a Traitor’ because more people are going to be banished and murdered, and he’s obviously going to remain.”

Paul predicts Stephen will remain in the game until episode 7 or 8.

“As soon as that table gets smaller, it’s going to be like, ‘Hold on a minute, how are you still here?’ So that might crop up at some point, depending on how long Ross stays,” he said.

‘That twist has made the whole game even more unpredictable’

While we may only be three episodes in, Paul is confident the series is shaping up to be one of the best.

“I think it genuinely has the potential to be the second-best season ever, obviously after Series 2,” he said.

“Normally, you’ve got, what, 17 or 18 Faithfuls? But now it feels like there are about eight million Faithfuls all trying to work out who the Secret Traitor is. That twist has made the whole game even more unpredictable. I can imagine there’s been even more WhatsApp chats, even more conversations about it. I think it’s brilliant.”

Paul insisted the game “always looks easy when you’re watching at home”. However, now that viewers are unaware of who the Secret Traitor is, it’s a challenge for everyone.

“It’s like, go on then, how easy is it really? It’s perfect. I think it’s the best twist.”
