Traitors fans are convinced Stephen Libby has made a massive mistake ahead of the final that could turn who wins on its head.

Stephen is now just one day away from the finale episode but viewers are worried he has really messed up.

The apparent mix up comes after he and fellow Traitor, Rachel Duffy, met in the Turret last night.

Stephen and Rachel were seen plotting who to murder next and also how to play out the final stage of the game.

Suspicion is mounting on both of them, so Rachel told him what she thinks they need to do next.

But viewers are worried Stephen completely “misunderstood” what she was saying.

The Traitors: Stephen makes ‘mistake’ ahead of final

Stephen and Rachel were seen discussing their next moves in the Turret at the end of Wednesday night’s episode.

Rachel stressed to Stephen that they have to be seen mentioning each other’s names to the rest of the players at this final stage.

If they avoid talking about each other, suspicion would arise.

The chat came after Stephen had asked her: “I just need to know now that we’re going to make it to the end.”

Leaning forward, Rachel assured him: “I’ve made one promise since I’ve got here. And I’ve told you I’m not breaking it.”

Stephen breathed out in relief and said: “Okay.”

Rachel went on: “Please remember, nobody can stick up for one another at this point. And if you hear anybody repeat that I’m talking about you, it’s because I have to, to protect our alliance.”

But it seems Stephen took Rachel’s game play to mean he can no longer trust her.

Speaking in the diary room, he said to the camera: “Right, now I’m worried. Maybe I’ve been blind because I have been actively not discussing Rachel if anyone ever brought her up.

“She might not necessarily write my name on her slate, but that doesn’t stop her sowing seeds of doubt against me.”

He then warned: “If I did find out that she was going against me behind my back, then… game on.”

Fans react to Stephen ‘misunderstanding’ Rachel

Traitors viewers completely understood what Rachel was saying to Stephen. But they are convinced he didn’t.

And this could have huge consequences.

If Stephen now thinks he cannot trust Rachel, it could completely change the course of who wins the show.

Following the episode, an unofficial Traitors fan account wrote on X: “Rachel basically just told Stephen that she’s no longer blindly supporting him…. That could’ve been a big mistake.”

But viewers were quick to hit back.

One person quickly replied: “She didn’t say that at all did she! He misunderstood it!”

Another added: “I think the way she said it may have been misinterpreted.”

A third agreed: “Yeah I think he may have interpreted that weirdly. Realistically, if she never even mentions his name that makes both of them look suspicious, though the Faithfuls wouldn’t be able to add two and two together.”

And someone else added: “She said he has to understand that she’ll have to talk about him in the castle and not to read anything into it. It would be weird if she spoke about the other 5 and not Stephen.”

Who do Rachel and Stephen murder next?

Rachel and Stephen have narrowed tonight’s murder down to two players. They have decided to kill either Faraaz Noor or Roxy Wilson.

They arrived at their decision after Faraaz made it clear he thinks Rachel is a Traitor. The Traitors also feel that murdering Roxy would link back to James Baker, rather than them.

But the pair are seriously worried about making the wrong choice.

Before writing their victim’s name down, Stephen said to Rachel: “Every decision we make now is going to decide whether or not we make it to that end game.”

Agreeing, she replied: “If we make the wrong one at this stage in the game, it could cost either of us our place.”

We cannot bear the suspense!
