Emmerdale continues to keep us on our toes with the schedule – and this week is no different, so is it on on Wednesday July 15?
Between football, rugby and other special shows, ITV tends to shift the soap schedule around. And boy, have they been shifting A LOT lately! But we’ve got you covered with all the up-to-date schedule changes right here!
What time is Emmerdale on tonight? Is it on ITVX?
On Wednesday, July 15, Emmerdale will be back on air on ITV at 8pm. Coronation Street, which usually follows, also returns. It comes after both soaps were off air last night (Tuesday July 14) for a World Cup Semi-Final which saw Spain beat France.
Tonight we have an hour-long trip to the Dales and the Street to make up for last night’s missing episodes.
Streaming is already available on ITVX and YouTube. They are usually released every day from 7am for anyone who can’t wait until the evening.
Both soaps are now on for the rest of the week, and we can confirm that the whole thing will be over on Sunday, July 19 as that’s when the World Cup Final will be played. So there are only a few more days of disruption left. For this tournament, anyway!
Some think if ITV brought the power hour earlier, it might make more sense, as then the soaps could possibly still air whenever the sport is on!
What happens in Emmerdale tonight?
Wednesday’s Emmerdale sees Mack walk away from an injured Ross. He is then found by Kev and when Ross lets slip his darkest secret – that he is Leyla’s father – Kev has the upper hand. Can Ross persuade Kev to keep quiet? And at what cost?
Meanwhile, it’s not long before Lewis decides to give Kev another chance and offers him a job in the café. How will Nicola react?
Elsewhere, Serena has some explaining to do after Monday’s police officer revelation. Robert wants to give her a chance, but Aaron is still deeply suspicious. Exactly what is she up to?
Also, Chas discovers Charity has told Mack everything and is furious. She’s also worried it’s only a matter of time before Sarah now finds out. Together Chas and Charity try to work out a way to keep everything quiet, but they’re interrupted by Liam bringing a tipsy Mack home. How much longer can Mack keep this together?
Finally, Caleb asks Kerry to handle a delivery with Billy. When will they realise they are in over their heads?
Soap power hour is a hit
In October 2024, Emmerdale began streaming the daily episode of the soap from 7am. Despite some concerns that it meant the soap was in trouble, coupled with lots of cast exits, it has been revealed that actually it was a great move by ITV as stats revealed viewing was way up.
The soap then announced a new schedule. The soap ‘power hour’ started in January 2026 and sees Emmerdale continue to air five nights a week. New episodes also drop on ITVX every morning at 7am as usual.
However, the soap has moved to a new time slot of 8pm. The Thursday double bill was also cut to half an hour to make way for additional episodes of Coronation Street.
This ensures faster-paced, digestible episodes – a 30-minute format which has already proven popular with viewers.
However, it also seems that the changes don’t stop the disruption caused by sports.
