When is 70 Up on next? Fans desperate to watch second episode of ITV finale have got to wait
Viewers have been desperate for this series to air70 Up fans are already reaching for the tissues after the series’ highly-anticipated finale got underway – but when is it on next?
The emotional final chapter brings more than 60 years worth of real life stories to a close.
Since 1964, the participants have returned every seven years to share their latest ups, downs and life events.

The first of the two-part 70 Up series has now aired, so when is episode two?
Here’s a recap of what we’ve seen so far and what we know about the second instalment.
70 Up’s finale gets underway with first episode
The first episode of 70 Up began with the iconic phrase: “Give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man.”
A montage of footage from over the past 62 years played out. It gave viewers a real insight into how different the once seven-year-olds’ lives were.
From views on university, marriage and careers, fans were given a flashback to significant moments.
Viewers first got to catch up with Tony, fondly remembered for wanting to be a jockey. Sadly, Tony’s dreams were scuppered in his early 20s. He went on to become a London cab driver. Tony is still devastated his dream never came true.
John and Andrew were also shown discussing, aged seven, which prestigious senior schools and universities they would attend.
Now 70, John – a QC – is still working in law. But looking back on his childhood on Up, he said: “I felt I had been set up to represent an outmoded class system.”
70 Up stars hit retirement
Andrew, meanwhile, is retired. He spend his career working as a lawyer. Sue has also retired, which she is struggling with. She has, however, got married!
Bruce – who wanted to be a missionary – has also stopped working. He spends his time volunteering with the RNLI. He also sings in a a choir.
Symon, who grew up in a children’s home, revealed he and wife Vienetta fostered 130 kids in their lifetime together. But he is struggling with still not knowing who his own father is.
Paul, famed for saying “I don’t like greens”, reflected on his dad’s tragic death. He is still living in Australia.

Suzy, meanwhile, grew up on her father’s 4,000-acre estate in Scotland. Exactly where she is now remains to be seen. The same goes for Neil, Peter and Paul, who were also shown.
Their 70 update, along with the tragic tale of Nick Hitchon will play out in episode two of 70 Up. Charles Furneaux will also reveal exactly why he quit the show age 21.
When is 70 Up on next? When are the documentaries on?
Sadly, ITV is making fans wait for the second instalment. An entire week in fact!
Episode 2 of 70 Up will air on ITV1 next Tuesday (September 22, 2026). It will again start at 9pm and run for 90 minutes, with an end time of 10.30pm.
To mark the very end of Up, ITV is also airing two special documentaries.
7 Up: The Victorians will start at 7.30pm on ITV1 next Tuesday, too. 7 Up: The Story will air the following evening on ITV1 (Wednesday September 23, 2026). This will also start at 7.30pm.
