Who is the Secret Traitor? Viewers convinced Claudia Winkleman is under red cloak as BBC 'finally lets her play'
It would be the ultimate plot twistThe Traitors is back and viewers are already convinced the BBC has pulled off the ultimate plot twist – by making host Claudia Winkleman the Secret Traitor.
Claudia returned to the BBC show last night with 22 new contestants in tow and there has been a big shake-up to the format.
Fans were immediately told there will be a Secret Traitor hiding underneath a special red cloak in this year’s series.
Claudia has selected the Secret Traitor but no one knows their identity – not even viewers of the show.
The three named Traitors – Rachel, Hugo and Stephen – are now under the control of The Secret Traitor and can only murder players on his or her ‘shortlist’.
But who is it? Viewers are wondering if the Secret Traitor is actually Claudia…
The Traitors: Is Claudia Winkleman the Secret Traitor?
Claudia and the 22 contestants were seen arriving at Ardross Castle in Scotland on Thursday night.
Within minutes, Claudia was brandishing a red cloak. Looking straight ahead at the camera, she said: “You stand before the Traitors’ Turret. Before you take the Traitors oath I imagine you are wondering why this cloak is a different colour.
“I can now reveal you have a special role. You are my Secret Traitor.”
The contestants were then called to the first Round Table of the series, where Claudia picked her Traitors. But after tapping Rachel, Hugo and Stephen on the shoulders, she reached down and appeared to tap a fourth.
Viewers didn’t get to see who she picked.
But writing on X, one skeptical fan said: “The plot twist when the secret traitor isn’t any of the faithful and it’s revealed to be Claudia finally getting to play.”
Another added: “Me going mad and concluding that the secret traitor is none other than.. CLAUDIA HERSELF.” A third agreed: “What if Claudia is the secret traitor?!?”
Someone else wrote: “Secret Traitor being Claudia would be quite the plot twist.”
And a fifth viewer predicted: “The clip of Claudia telling the person they’re the ‘secret red traitor’ will be shown again at the final and spin around and show her looking in a mirror I HAVE SOLVED THE MYSTERY.”
When is The Traitors on next?
Viewers of The Traitors were left on the first cliffhanger of the series last night. Traitors Rachel, Hugo and Stephen were left making their decision of who to murder first.
Thanks to the new Secret Traitor, they only have three people to choose from. 10 names are at risk following the first mission, but the Secret Traitor was allowed to shortlist it down to three people.
The Traitors can only murder either James, Netty or Maz.
