Why BGT is not on next Saturday as viewers call for major shake-up to 'beyond awful' show
Britain's Got Talent is taking a break next weekend…
Britain’s Got Talent is not on next Saturday night (March 14), with fans wondering why after BGT hosts Ant and Dec shared the news at the end of last night’s episode.
Last night’s BGT (March 7) saw America’s Got Talent: Extreme winner Alfredo Silva return to the franchise with a knife-throwing act viewers branded “disgusting”. Trampolinists Connor and Oliver also tried their luck in front of the judges. Sadly, however, Connor slipped up – literally – and derailed their audition.
At the end of the show last night, a trailer for the next episode aired. It featured Stacey Solomon, who stepped in for Simon Cowell during the auditions. However, viewers expecting to see Stacey and the gang on their screens next weekend are in for disappointment…

Why BGT is not on next Saturday night
Britain’s Got Talent is usually on every Saturday night at 7pm on ITV1.
However, next weekend, the series it taking a break. As such, BGT will not be on ITV next Saturday night – and here’s why.
ITV has scrapped the show for the rugby. England play France in the Six Nations. It starts at 7.20pm on Saturday night, taking over BGT’s slot.
There’s bad news for fans of The 1% Club, too, as that’s also been given the chop in favour of the rugby. The Jonathan Ross Show is also absent from the schedules next weekend.
What a series we’ve had so far, and there’s still SO much more to come! ✨
We’re taking a break next weekend, but we’ll be back Saturday 21st March at 7pm on @ITV 1, @ITVX and @WeAreSTV. See ya there!#BGT #BritainsGotTalent pic.twitter.com/qv5R44vlzw

‘This show has really lost its magic’
However, with ratings on the slide and viewers growing increasingly bored of the show, many have commented that a serious shake-up needs to take place.
One commented: “Can someone please tell Simon Cowell and ITV that BGT is finished. It’s beyond awful now.” A second commented: “This show has really lost its magic this year. Also, you can clearly see the staging here in action. Get a crap comic, make him bomb, bring another out and she does better. Really? Come on BGT, change the record! No wonder the linear ratings are low.”

“ITV are doing themselves no favours with this kind of rubbish on BGT. Half hour into this third show, and the material is utter crap. This is Saturday prime-time TV. We want to be entertained and we are not! Really bad year so far for BGT,” said a third.
Others were frustrated that ITV hasn’t put the rugby on ITV2, though. They posted: “Not even on next week now because of [bleep]ing rugby. Do they know they’ve got two other channels to put it on?! Saturday night TV is the best and they take it all off to put [bleep]ing rugby or football on.”
