The Jonathan Ross Show is not on ITV tonight (February 28) – and music fans will know why the series has been hauled off air.

The new series of The Jonathan Ross Show started on ITV earlier this month. The first episode featured Hugh Bonneville. The host was reunited with his Celebrity Traitors co-star Alan Carr for episode 2. And episode 3 saw Danny and Dani Dyer promoting their Dyers’ Caravan Park series.

However, tonight, it’s a musical takeover on ITV1 – so here’s why The Jonathan Ross Show isn’t on ITV tonight…

Why is The Jonathan Ross Show not on tonight?

After just three episodes, JR and the gang have been bumped. It usually airs around 9.30pm on a Saturday night. But not tonight.

Instead, Jack Whitehall takes over the channel as he hosts The BRIT Awards.

It starts at 8.15pm and runs until 10.50pm. As a result, The Jonathan Ross Show, as well as shows including The 1% Club, have been scrapped for a week.

The BRITs is on straight after this week’s Britain’s Got Talent, and will feature a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, curated by his widow Sharon.

When will Jonathan Ross be back?

Fear not, the series hasn’t been cancelled entirely.

It’s back next Saturday (March 7) at 9.25pm. The 1% Club is also back next week, airing just before Jonathan’s chat show.

On his sofa next weekend will be actors Kurt Russell and Tim Roth, musician David Byrne, space scientist Maggie Aderin and comedian Sara Pascoe. In the absence of the BRITs, there will be a musical interlude on JR’s show. Music will be provided by American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan.

Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing

However, those missing their weekly Jonathan Ross fix need not despair. He’s back on Monday night (March 2) with a brand-new reality TV show.

He hosts Channel 4’s Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing on Monday and Tuesday night.

The show sees nine pairs of strangers with different beliefs, lifestyles, opinions and habits handcuffed together for as long as they can stand it. The pairs must navigate eating, dressing and even sleeping inches apart as they are sent on a road trip across the UK.

The ones who last the longest will be in the running for a huge £100,000 prize. From a bartender and a millionaire to an alpha male and a proud feminist, which couple will be the first to take the cuffs off?
