The second series of The Princess Diaries drops this weekend…The Princess Diaries returns tonight for a brand-new series and again follows the life of Princess Andre – but why isn’t her dad Peter on the show?
Fans tuning in will quickly notice that Peter is absent from the episodes, along with his wife and Princess’ step-mum Emily.
Her mum Katie Price does, however, make an appearance. But why?

The Princess Diaries: Series 2
The first episode of the new series sees Princess continue to forge ahead with her career as an influencer.
After coming second in the Tatler best-dressed list, Princess turns to mum Katie for fashion advice. She also spends time with her best pal, Heidi Katona, where they discuss life in the spotlight.
The episode will also see Princess and Junior take older brother Harvey, who is disabled and has complex needs, on a fun day out on the train. His favourite!
But there are two important people missing from the show…
Why isn’t Peter Andre and wife Emily in The Princess Diaries?
Princess addresses why her dad Peter and his wife Emily aren’t in The Princess Diaries from the outset. She explains how much of the coverage surrounding the ITV show first time around focused on her mum and dad’s fractured relationship.
At the time, Katie claimed she wasn’t allowed to be on the show. She even spoke out saying she felt “disrespected” and “discarded”, especially as Princess is now following a similar path in the spotlight.
“I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot. No signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome,” she fumed at the time.
Touching upon this in the first episode, Princess says: “Because of the backlash after the last series, dad and Emily decided they didn’t want to be involved this time. That is purely because they want it to be about me and not the negative stuff the press are talking about.
“I know people have a lot to say, my mum has a lot to say sometimes. but at the end of the day, they want to best for me and their kids. It’s annoying because we get out in the middle of it. But we talk about it like grown adults and it’s not a big deal.”
In a plot twist, Katie does make an appearance – via video call – in the first episode of the series.
Where can I watch The Princess Diaries?
The first episode of The Princess Diaries will air on ITV2 tonight (March 8) at 9pm.
The remaining three episodes will air in the same 9pm slot tomorrow (Monday), Tuesday and Wednesday.
