Peter Andre’s wife Emily is noticeably absent from The Princess Diaries – but why isn’t she in it?

The new series of Princess Andre’s reality show has just landed and it gives fans an update on all the goings on in the 19-year-old’s life.

Princess is once again joined by her brother Junior, 21, and, for the first time, her mum Katie Price is making her debut.

Katie, who had previously claimed she’d been banned from the ITV2 series, appears throughout all four episodes.

Princess and Junior’s dad, and Katie’s ex, Peter Andre is also front and centre as series 3 gets underway.

But his wife Emily is nowhere to be seen.

Why is Emily MacDonagh not in The Princess Diaries?

Emily, 36, does make a fleeting appearance in The Princess Diaries, but it is just a cameo role.

She pops up in episode 3 when Princess and Junior head into London to see their dad in Mamma Mia: The Party! in London’s O2 Arena.

Princess and Junior share a car to the press evening together, along with Junior’s girlfriend Jasmine. Emily doesn’t travel with them.

The working doctor is then only seen in a fleeting shot of the red carpet. Peter poses with his wife and his eldest two kids before the show starts. Even when shown at the table, Emily is cut out of shot.

So what is going on?

Last year, Emily and Peter both said they wanted to take a step back from The Princess Diaries. It came as Princess and Junior’s mum Katie lashed out at not being allowed in the show.

Insiders said the couple would not feature in series 2 or 3 as a result. This would prevent them from taking the shine away from the teenager.

A source at the time said: “Pete and Emily will not feature in The Princess Diaries seasons two and three. It was discussed between him and Princess, and they decided as a family that it’s better for the show to focus on Princess alone, rather than her family life.”

Peter, however, has since pulled a U-turn. Insiders claimed producers were “struggling for content” without Princess’ famous dad in her show.

Speaking earlier this month, Peter admitted: “I pop in a little bit, It’s her show but I pop in. vThey came to see the show [Mamma Mia! The Party] and filmed it, so they’ll be some of that footage.”

Emily, however, has stuck to her decision to back out of The Princess Diaries completely. She is instead concentrating on her own career and leaving Princess and Junior to it.

What does Emily do?

In addition to her work as a GP, Emily is busy focusing on her own influencer career alongside medicine. Last month, Emily and her friend Dr Raj Arora launched their very own podcast called The Double Dose.

Sharing news of their latest venture, Emily and Raj said: “From hormones and motherhood to skin, sleep, neurodiversity and sex, no topic’s too taboo and no question’s too awkward.”

Meanwhile, Emily has a following of almost 800,000 fans on Instagram. She shares regular posts about health, motherhood and recipes on the platform.

And this is all while juggling hers and Peter’s three children, Amelia, 12, eight-year-old Theo and Arabella, one. No wonder she’s happy to bow out of The Princess Diaries!
