'I'm LIVID': Worst Ex Ever viewers 'disgusted' by Wade Wilson case and everyone has the same complaint

'He deserves to be fired'

Worst Ex Ever season 2 has left Netflix viewers “sickened”, with one common complaint arising around the case of ‘Deadpool Killer’ Wade Wilson.

Wilson, known as the Deadpool Killer (because he has the same name as the Marvel superhero), was sentenced to death for the 2019 murders of two women: Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz.

The first episode of the new documentary focuses on his case, with viewers initially introduced to Kelly Matthews, who met Wilson on a dating app a year before his crimes.

Wilson is said to have sexually assaulted Matthews, which led him to be interviewed by the police – specifically, Detective Louis Potter.

Just months before his double murder, Detective Louis Potter (of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office) led the investigation into Matthews’ allegations against Wilson.

When Matthews told him that Wilson “had sex with [her] without [her] consent”, he responded: “Explain that to me. Help me understand what you mean.”

A week later, Potter interviewed Wilson. He told him that this was his opportunity to say he didn’t kidnap, rape, or assault Matthews, to which he claimed he “caused her no harm”.

“That’s all I need to hear,” Potter responded, going on to say: “She said, ‘He beats me. He does this. He does that,’ and you know I’m like, ‘Well, I just don’t know.'”

“I’m not doubting you. You’re doing great and you’re a smart man, you know? You’re on the right track,” he added.

Potter then told Wilson that Matthews wanted it to be a quick investigation “because there’s an ulterior motive, which sucks because she is my victim so I got to give her 100% of my abilities”.

“But I ain’t putting the wrong man in jail. I’ll be damned if I do that,” he also said.

“He deserves to be fired”

Potter has been the subject of viewers’ wrath in the wake of Worst Ex Ever’s release on Netflix.

“This detective heard of the horrible kidnapping that WW had done and just went into the interview with him all buddy buddy and made it clear he didn’t believe her. Shameful,” one user wrote on Reddit.

“I thought at first it was just a ploy too. But I was so sickened that he didn’t even pry or insist on a lie detector. A dreadful detective,” another commented.

“I was disgusted. It’s amazing how many predators could have been stopped earlier if only the detective listened to the first woman that was attacked,” a third added.

“That detective deserves all of the hate mail,” a fourth wrote. “He deserves to be fired,” another commented. “The amount of rage and disgust I felt watching that detective,” a sixth shared. Another viewer said they were “livid” watching the episode.

“I legit had to pause and just audibly started cussing at my TV. How the hell did this dude even become a detective?” another asked.

Where is Detective Louis Potter now?

In September 2022, Matthews filed a complaint against Potter and the sheriff’s department for failing to properly investigate her allegations.

After an internal review, it was concluded that Potter “failed to conduct a thorough and detailed investigation”.

The detective was suspended for two weeks, and as of January 2026, he’s still employed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office.
