One of Amazon's biggest documentary shows is finally back

True crime and documentary addicts, listen up: we’ve rounded up all of the new documentaries coming to streaming and TV in June 2026.

Netflix has already delivered plenty of documentaries this year. We’ve had Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, The Investigation of Lucy Letby, Should I Marry a Murderer, and most recently, The Crash, about “hell on wheels” murderer Mackenzie Shirilla.

Elsewhere, we’ve also had the likes of Reported Missing, Kidnapped By My Mum, and a new season of Welcome to Wrexham.

It’s a new month, which means it’s time to organise your telly schedule. So, whether you’re looking for new Netflix recommendations or what’s coming to the BBC, you’re in the right place.

The 7 best new documentaries to stream in June

Instadocs – Alex Murdaugh, Unconvicted

  • Release date: May 30
  • Channel/platform: Netflix
  • Length: 30 minutes

Yes, this doc was technically released in May. However, it’s worth flagging, given it dropped at the end of the month – and, more importantly, it’s absolutely worth your time.

The first instalment in Netflix’s new Instadocs “fast-turnaround” documentary series takes on a familiar case: Alex Murdaugh, the American lawyer sentenced to life for the alleged murders of his wife Maggie and their son, Paul… only his convictions were overturned by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

“Instadocs: Alex Murdaugh, Unconvicted features interviews with South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, the creators of Trial Watchers, as well as jurors — including Myra Crosby — whose shocking dismissal from the jury contributed to questions about Hill’s misconduct,” the description reads.

  • Release date: June 1
  • Channel/platform: BBC Two and BBC iPlayer
  • Length: 3 episodes

In 2012, 16-year-old Megan Bhari founded Believe in Magic. As someone suffering from a brain tumour, she wanted to help children with terminal illnesses and bring them joy.

With the help of her mother, Jean O’Brien, they raised hundreds of thousands of pounds – not to mention a £2 million donation from One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson.

However, as the BBC website teases, “doubts arise – is she really ill? The truth is more shocking than anyone imagined.”

Nick Bird, a parent who investigated the charity, said (via The Mirror): “It’s fiction but it’s actually real and it actually happened, it’s bonkers.”

Michael Jackson: The Verdict

  • Release date: June 3
  • Channel/platform: Netflix
  • Length: 3 episodes

Michael Jackson, the late, (in)famous popstar, has been at the forefront of pop culture this year, thanks to the Michael biopic.

However, this new Netflix documentary focuses on a chapter of his life that wasn’t in the film: when he was charged with molesting a child.

“It has been 20 years since the trial of Michael Jackson in which he was found not guilty. Yet, to this day, controversy still rages,” the filmmakers behind the doc told Netflix.

“No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole.

“Anyone interested in the Michael Jackson story should feel this documentary gives them a window into what was largely a closed event and a chance to feel closer to what happened.”

The Murder of Rachel Nickell

  • Release date: June 4
  • Channel/platform: Netflix
  • Length: 1 hour 36 minutes

Rachel Nickell was a 23-year-old woman who lived near Wimbledon Common with her partner André Hanscombe and their two-year-old son, Alex. She was murdered on July 15, 1992, and her child was the only eyewitness to her death.

This new Netflix documentary – which accompanies The Witness, a drama about the same case – will explore the “shocking real events” and the “notorious, years-long police investigation that followed”.

“Featuring exclusive archive footage, first-hand accounts from family members, and insights from leading forensic experts, the film unpacks how a flawed, highly-publicised inquiry led to the wrong man’s prosecution, before a stunning breakthrough reignited a family’s fight for justice over a decade later.”

Clarkson’s Farm season 5

Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper

  • Release date: June 3
  • Channel/platform: Prime Video
  • Length: 8 episodes (only 1-4 releasing on June 3)

Who could have predicted that a show centred on Jeremy Clarkson running a farm would be one of the most popular shows on Prime Video?

Five seasons in, Clarkson shows no signs of slowing down, with viewers keen to find out what’s next for Kaleb Cooper, Charlie Ireland, the Diddly Squat Farm, and The Farmer’s Dog pub.

“Clarkson’s Farm is back, and amidst a government budget that sends the UK farming community into uproar, Jeremy decides some big changes are needed to make the farm run more smoothly,” Amazon’s description reads.

“But while the farm tries to go high-tech – resulting in Kaleb’s first ever trip abroad – even bigger developments are heading for Diddly Squat that are going to prove much more of a challenge.”

Did You Kill Emma?

  • Release date: June 14
  • Channel/platform: Prime Video
  • Length: TBC

Emma Caldwell, a 27-year-old Scottish woman, was murdered in April 2005. Ten years later, The Sunday Mail published an article naming a suspect who’d been questioned by the police: Iain Packer.

“When Packer approaches investigative journalist Samantha Poling to clear his name she agrees to meet him, and starts digging,” Amazon’s description reads.

“Poling finds a shocking story of police failures which left detectives reeling, and allowed Emma’s killer to roam free and continue his brutal attacks. Poling’s investigation leads to an extraordinary face-to-face encounter as she confronts the man who really killed Emma on camera.”

Kevin Bridges: In Search of the Beautiful Game

  • Release date: June 5
  • Channel/platform: BBC
  • Length: 1 hour

“Twenty-eight years since Scotland last qualified for a World Cup, Kevin Bridges embarks on a global journey to understand what football has become, and whether the sport that once brought people together still has beauty at its heart,” the BBC description reads.

“Kevin starts in Clydebank, where his own love of football began during the 1998 World Cup. Meeting his old pal and Scotland vice-captain John McGinn, Kevin revisits those early memories of jumpers for goalposts and the idea that football could mean something bigger than the game itself.

“But they also consider how football has changed, and maybe lost some of its soul, prompting Kevin to embark on a journey to find out whether the beautiful game still exists. And where better to find out than the home of Jogo Bonito – Brazil.”
