Charlotte Crosby claims she has been ‘banned’ from signing up to The Celebrity Traitors by the BBC.

The Geordie Shore star, 35, insists there is a “no reality star rule” when it comes to the casting of the show.

Charlotte also describes the Beeb’s signing of content creator and YouTuber Niko Omilana last year as a “kick in the teeth”.

Niko was first to be eliminated from The Celebrity Traitors, which Charlotte believes is because he had “no idea how to make television”.

Charlotte Crosby claims she’s ‘banned’ from Celebrity Traitors

Charlotte made her comments on The Celebrity Traitors during an interview with The Sun. It comes after filming began for the second series of the show, following its huge success last autumn.

The line-up for series has already been confirmed, with a host of big names taking part. They include actors Michael Sheen and Richard E Grant, and Coronation Street legend Julie Hesmondhalgh,

Singer James Blunt is also among the star-studded line-up, along with model Jerry Hall.

Charlotte is miffed and even believes the BBC will backtrack as they “run out of names” of big stars.

She told the publication: “I would love to do that but you do know they’ve got a no reality rule. That is a genuine fact. My agent is on the line and he will confirm.”

Charlotte went on to moan about content creators like Niko, saying they “have no idea how to make television”. She describes it as a “kick in the teeth”, adding that reality stars are “the bread and butter” of television.

The mum-of-two, who found fame on MTV in Geordie Shore in 2011, then insisted the BBC will eventually “call”, adding: “You’ll always need a good reality TV star.”

The BBC was contacted by TVGuide but said it would not be commenting on Charlotte’s claims.

When does Celebrity Traitors 2026 start?

Filming is already underway at Ardross Castle in Scotland for the second series of Celebrity Traitors. This year’s contestants have been spotted taking part in missions as host Claudia Winkleman looks on.

However the start date for the series is yet to be confirmed. It is likely to follow last year’s schedule, beginning around October time.

Meanwhile, last night The Celebrity Traitors won an award at the Television BAFTAs in London. The show scooped the gong for Best Reality.

Claudia travelled more than 500 miles from Ardross Castle to accept the award. She said: “It’s such an honour to be part of this extraordinary show.

“Thank you to the people – I hope this isn’t nauseating – who watch and do memes and everything. We see you and we’re incredibly grateful.

“This award is absolutely for our extraordinary cast who played with dignity, with gusto, and with their entire hearts and we love you.”
