Son Kit was granted a short visit tonight and wasted no time making it clear he didn’t believe for a second that his mum was capable of such a thing. Bernie then faced DC Browning, calmly explaining her night with Mal at the hotel and how his behaviour had crossed into obsession. The detective, however, wasn’t convinced and saw it as a possible motive. The real culprit was still out there – and painfully close to home. Because the truth was, Bernie didn’t attack Mal. Her son did. Kit Green was loudly defending his mum’s innocence, even as he appeared distracted at work. And, that’s because he’s all loved up with his fellow Coronation Street colleague Caitlin Frances Connolly. Jacob and Corrie PR officer Caitlin made their relationship public in October 2025 in the form of a cosy Instagram post. Jacob posted two photos of himself suited and booted standing proudly next to Caitlin, with one of the images seeing the couple kiss. He captioned the image: “My love to the Ainsworths’.” His fellow Corrie co-stars then swooned over the couple’s first official Instagram post, with Sydney Martin commenting “beautiful couple xx.” Lou Michaelis actress Farrell Hegarty also wrote: “Yayyyyyy,” while DS Lisa Swain star Vicky Myers gushed: “Gorgeous.” Since this post, the couple have often shared stories of their cute weekends together as well as photo grid posts seeing them both soak up the sun on holiday.
