Are fans on to something?

Ben Driscoll and Steve McDonald have been striking up a new friendship in Coronation Street recently much to Tim’s annoyance.

Tim had to make it clear to Ben (Thursday, February 19), that Steve would always be his best friend no matter what.

But, could it soon become hard for the new friends to stay away from each other? It looks that way!

Ben and Steve’s friendship in Coronation Street

Ben Driscoll might be fairly new on the cobbles but he’s wasted no time in making friends with the locals.

This week, he’s formed a new friendship with local cab driver Steve McDonald.

Steve quizzed Ben’s mind on a random grammatical error he’d been saying for years, while also debating whether rugby or football was better.

When Tim then rocked up at the Rovers to see the pair laughing together and having been playing darts, the jealousy was obvious.

Tim then fought back, saying that football was always going to be the better sport. He was very unhappy when Steve seemed to be turning her attention towards the rugby conversation though.

Once Steve had gone, that’s when Tim put some boundaries in place. Steve was his best friend, not Ben’s. And, he wanted it to stay that way.

Coronation Street fan theory predicts Ben Driscoll is Steve McDonald’s secret brother

Next week’s Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Steve McDonald gets a phone call while in the Rovers with Ben. He’s informed that his dad Jim McDonald isn’t well and might not pull through. Jim will then be killed off away from screen.

Now, a new fan theory has suggested that Steve and Ben Driscoll are actually brothers and that this will come out in the wake of Jim’s death.

Taking to Reddit, one fan said: “They’re going to be brothers, aren’t they? Jim’s going to be both their dad.”

Also remembering that Maggie spotted something last year in the Barlows’ cupboard and got freaked out, another fan backed the idea.

“Oh maybe, but why did Maggie freak out at the Barlows’? Would they have a pic of him in the cupboard? They might, he’s Amy’s grandad.

“With Jim dying next week, it would be a bit pointless, but a way for it to come out (I’m not exactly sure how though).”

Could the Driscolls and McDonalds be related in some way? Are Steve and Ben actually brothers?

Steve and Ben secret sibling truth set to be revealed

It appears that this fan theory actually holds some weight as it’s been reported that this is exactly where the storyline is heading!

A source told The Sun: “It’s going to be a huge shock for Steve when he finds out his dad’s dead but that’s not the biggest shock to come.

“It’s no surprise that Jim had an affair but for Steve to discover he’s got another brother out there is a huge shock.

“When Steve finds out it’s Ben it’s an even bigger shock – especially with how close he’s been getting to Ben.”
