David and Shona Platt found out that their unborn baby has a mass on its neck in Coronation Street, ahead of a special episode.

Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap (Monday, November 10), saw the couple head to the hospital to find out their baby’s gender.

However, they didn’t get this far as the scan picked up on something wrong with the baby’s development.

Shona and David upset after worrying baby scan news in Coronation Street

Shona Platt headed to her baby scan after being given a lift by Sarah. David was initially a no-show (he’d been arrested by Kit Green – eye roll), but Kit then had a change of heart and drove David to the hospital.

David’s wife was rightly livid at him for almost missing the scan not once, but twice. The pair then headed into their appointment but picked up on a look of concern on the sonographer’s face.

The woman then explained that she’d spotted a mass on the baby’s neck.

After the appointment, David tried to reassure Shona that everything would be alright but Shona couldn’t help but fear the worst.

The couple then prepared for their follow-up appointment which would take place the next day.

Special episode sees David and Shona learn more about their baby’s condition

In Wednesday’s special episode of Corrie (November 12), the first half of the episode will see the morning from both of David and Shona’s different perspectives as they prepare to attend their appointment.

David tries to act strong for Shona but she interprets this as him not caring. Shona, however, is emotional and vocalises her internal fears. The couple’s different ways of coping create huge tensions between them.

At the appointment, Shona and David learn that the baby’s mass is a tumour and that it could be cancerous.

If they wish to continue with the pregnancy, it would require Shona to undergo a complex and potentially life-threatening surgery. What will the couple decide to do?

What else happened in Coronation Street tonight?

Fiz lashed out

Fiz was really struggling tonight after having to deal with everything herself while Tyrone failed to even fold the laundry correctly.

With everything getting too much for her, she took her anger out on the poor sewing machine at the factory as her co-workers just watched her lose it. What has the sewing machine ever done to you, Fiz? Outrageous.

Will wasn't impressed

Eva set Will up a personal training session with James Bailey. Will wasn't interested though and just stayed glued to his phone.

James then told Eva she could have her money back before Will slated James and told his family that he preferred his old PT.

Betsy sided with Becky

With Becky insisting that she was being spied on, Lisa wasn't sure that she was being honest. Carla begged Lisa to see through Becky's lies but Betsy was harder to convince.

Betsy sided with her mum and went off in a strop, upset that nobody cared that her mum was in danger. Well, Betsy, we hate to break it to you, but she's not!

Sarah and Kit took the next step

Sarah worried that Kit just wanted something casual after David and Shona's recent bet on her relationship cast doubt in her mind.

Kit then promised Sarah that he wanted something serious with her and asked her to move into his flat.

Sarah said she didn't want to do that because she wanted him to move in with her instead.

Eva had grand ideas

Eva had big ideas for the Rovers, including introducing some cocktails to the menu. Lauren Bolton was in approval, but Maggie was not.

Abi tried to build bridges with Tyrone

Abi visited Tyrone and tried to repair her friendship with him. But, Tyrone had told her that the Loose Women had advised him that it would take years to forgive her. Great.
