Idris Nazir arrives onto Coronation Street

A fair few heads were turned on the cobbles tonight as newcomer Idris arrived in Weatherfield. With two Speed Daal customers giving Leanne and Alya a hard time, Idris entered and got them to go elsewhere.

Alya was thrilled as her relative and cousin of her late father Kal made himself known. Leanne also impressed with his heroic actions.

Leanne recognised Idris from a wedding that she’d attended some years ago. She remembered how they’d both gotten on quite well.

Idris then revealed that he was in the property business. He had acquired an agency ‘down the road.’ Brody then tried to make a good impression and put the feelers out for a job working for Idris.

Later on, Adam Barlow feigned some concerns about Idris to Alya. She told him that she wasn’t just a fan of Idris because he was family. He was a smart guy who would do anything for those he cared about.

Adam might’ve been right to be concerned though as, after this chat, Brody almost caught Idris dragging a lad into the ginnel and demanding some money he owed him.

Coronation Street spoilers confirm ‘dangerous’ romance for Leanne and Idris

There’s romance in store of Idris and Weatherfield icon Leanne Battersby. But, Leanne could be set for heartbreak as it’s clear that Idris’ world is a tad dangerous.

As Idris begins settling into life on Coronation Street, he quickly finds himself causing a stir among the locals – especially Leanne. After stepping in during a heated confrontation, Idris leaves Leanne flustered when he later attempts to kiss her in the Rovers.

But not everyone is convinced by his charm. Alya wastes no time warning Leanne to keep her distance, while Idris also appears to be turning his attention towards Tracy, hinting that drama could soon be on the cards.

Things become even more suspicious at Speed Daal when Idris continues flirting with Leanne while asking Alya to deal with his legal matters. Although Adam reluctantly agrees to look over Idris’s files, concerns soon begin to grow.

Meanwhile, Brody appears happy working for Idris, but Dylan’s pointed comments about his past leave Leanne uneasy. After overhearing the exchange, she confronts Idris and demands to know whether his business dealings are really legitimate. What is Idris involed with?

Strictly Come Dancing's Alex Kingston reveals 'complex health battle' and real reason she signed up to the show

Strictly Come Dancing star Alex Kingston has opened up about a devastating health battle before entering the ballroom.

The ER actress, 62, appeared on Thursday's instalment of ITV's This Morning alongside pro partner Johannes Radebe, 38.

Discussing their Strictly journey so far, Alex detailed the real reason she's decided to put on her dancing shoes.

Why did Alex choose to do Strictly?

Speaking to This Morning hosts Dermot O'Leary and Cat Deeley, Alex explained why she wanted to do Strictly Come Dancing. "I'm doing it for women of a certain age, anyone over 60, you know, age is just a number," she said.

It's just that, that thing that you hear over and over again, which is, life is too short, if there's anything you want to do, be brave and just go and do it and no regrets."

Secret health battle

While discussing her reasons for joining the star-studded Strictly line-up, Alex mentioned a hidden health battle. "I had quite complex health issues last year, and which I have recovered from and out of that," she revealed.

It's not yet known what was wrong Alex as she appeared to keep her cards close to her chest. She reassured Dermot and Cat that she had fully recovered.

Alex and Johannes' next Strictly dance

Alex and Johannes will next take to the stage during Saturday evening's show on BBC One. They will be taking on the Samba, a dance she's "finding really hard".

The pairing will be dancing to 'La Bamba' by Connie Francis and will hope to come out on top ahead of Sunday's results show. "Our next dance. This is trial by fire, and I'm finding it really hard," Alex explained on This Morning.

Johannes added: "Well, listen, it took me years and years to master. So to be expected to learn it in a couple of days and be amazing is a big ask. Yeah, okay, but she's handling it."

Alex and Johannes secret connection

Before their pairing on Strictly Come Dancing, it turns out Alex and Johannes had already worked with each other. The two appeared together alongside actor Ncuti Gatwa and fellow Strictly judge Shirley Ballas.

The dancers played themselves, with Alex playing River Song, in a dance sequence celebrating the defeat of villain Maestro.

On the Doctor Who episode, Johannes said: "We did an episode. I mean, that was just a cameo situation, but this lady is the legend. That's what I said when I first met. I was like, she doesn't know that I'm the huge fan."

On their connection, Alex added: "We're having a really good time. I think the thing is that actually, as personalities, we click, which is also something that's quite important. And the producers, I think on the whole, they get it right.

"They you may think you want somebody, but they they see that actually maybe the chemistry is better with somebody else. I mean, I always wanted to have Johannes as my partner."
