Gary becomes Weatherfield’s ‘top suspect’ in Coronation Street after Tim’s photo ‘smashes his alibi to pieces’

Just when he thought he was off the hook

In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street (Thursday, May 7), Gary Windass was questioned by the police over his deleted CCTV.

Despite the police not being able to recover the footage and also believing Maria’s alibi for Gary, the end of the episode switched things up.

It turned out that Tim has captured Gary emerging from the place where Theo died on the night of April 23rd.

Tim’s photo puts Gary at the top of Theo murder suspect list in Coronation Street

Maria couldn’t help noticing that Gary wasn’t acting like himself and quizzed him on it. He promised her that he was just stressed about processing his VAT, but Maria started to worry that he’d killed Theo.

Gary then admitted that he’d done something stupid and has smashed up Theo’s van on the day of his death.

In the bistro, it wasn’t long before Gary was taken down to the station by DS Swain. After being quizzed over his hatred of Theo and threatening texts sent to him, Gary warned that the CCTV at the builder’s yard was wiped at the end of each week.

The police then told him that they had a tech guy who was very good at recovering footage. It seemed that Gary was off the hook though when Maria gave Gary an unexpected alibi – she and Gary had been getting it on together at the yard that night. She’d asked Gary to wipe the footage so that nobody saw their steamy moment.

But, a photo on Tim’s phone looked set to change everything. He and Sally took a photo after Carla and Lisa’s wedding, and Gary could be seen emerging from the scaffolding in the background.

Gary becomes top suspect in Coronation Street spoilers

With Tim smashing Gary’s alibi to pieces, Gary moves right up to the top of the police suspect list in Coronation Street spoilers for next week.

Kit and Lisa make it clear that Gary’s alibi just doesn’t stack. They head over to the builder’s yard in a search for evidence. They also examine the scaffolding poles too.

The CCTV footage isn’t recovered though. And, Lisa admitsthat they have no solid evidence to charge Gary.

With the investigation continuing though, Kit warns Gary that he’s still at the top of the suspect list. He shouldn’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet. Did Gary kill Theo?
