ITV Share By Tamzin Meyer Jan 13 2026 By Tamzin Meyer Jan 13 2026 5 huge questions that still need answering after Becky Swain’s prison sentencing We're still in the dark Becky Swain Share By Tamzin Meyer Jan 13 2026 By Tamzin Meyer Jan 13 2026 Becky Swain has just been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Coronation Street, but we’re not ready for the storyline to end just yet. It seems that the rush to put Becky behind bars has meant that some important information has been left out of the storyline. And, we’re desperate for the questions on our lips to be answered right away. Here’s what’s left us confused. So, how corrupt is Costello? (Credit: ITV) 1. Costello’s involvement Right, we know that DI Costello was one dodgy guy. After all, he helped Becky fake her own death and gave her a whole new identity. He even had poor Tia Wardley killed. But, Becky was keeping a lot of secrets for Costello which has us wondering if there’s more to his story. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers One fan on Reddit asked: “What Costello has done and any outcomes?” Who exactly was Tia Wardley? Was she really a homeless woman with no connections? And, just exactly who else was involved in Becky and Costello’s schemes. 2. Secret location Costello had planned on retiring in September and had even bought a multi million pound house to start the next chapter of his life. He never told his colleagues about his retirement plans though… After being attacked, Costello kept repeating the same words. These led Kit to unlock a location which could help his gain evidence against Becky. When Kit got there, he found evidence that she’d had Carla locked away in the closet. But, Costello didn’t know this at the time meaning that something else was in the place too. One fan commented: “I think they started this storyline too early so they added so many random points to it that made no sense (the Radcliffes, Tia Wardley, Costello’s million pound retirement house etc), that they then forgot all about when they rushed the end of the story to be aligned with the timing of Corriedale.” Which version of the story was real? (Credit: ITV) 3. Becky’s true reason for faking her own death Becky kept telling Lisa and Betsy that she had to fake her own death because an OCG involving a gang leader called Curtis was after her. But, was that actually the truth? Or, was Becky a part of the OCG herself? This was never cleared up. One viewer on Reddit wondered: “Why Becky had to leave? Was she completely in the pocket of the gang? Or was she actually in danger due to the gang?” 4. Her sentence If we glaze over the fact that Becky was arrested and sentenced all in the space of a week, we’re now left wondering how much the police actually know about her. On-screen, it appears that they only know about her kidnapping of Carla. Do they know about her attack on Costello? They must be aware of her fake death (obviously) but do they know about the killing of Tia Wardley and the rest of Becky’s corruption? What exactly are the 12 years for? We didn’t even get to see a trial play out. How deep were they involved? (Credit: ITV) 5. The extent of Matty and Logan’s knowledge So, Matty and Logan Radcliffe ‘killed’ Becky Swain. They were behind the wheel during the hit and run that ‘ended her life.’ However, they actually killed Tia Wardley instead. But, how much did they even know? Were they just paid to carry out the crime? Or, were they part of Becky and Costello’s little team before this? We just need answers and we need them now!
