Cassie has been planning on proposing to Steve when he received a phone call that changed everything. He then found out that his dad Jim had died. And, this news hasn’t gone down well with Corrie fans. Steve’s dad passed away (Credit: ITV) Jim McDonald killed off in Coronation Street Tonight, Cassie Plummer was buzzing at the idea of proposing to her partner Steve and enlisted Mary and Tim’s help to make her plans happen. With Tim taking Steve on a suspiciously long walk, Mary got to work with unveiling a flower display on the Street with the words ‘Marry me’ on them. Tim quickly told Mary to cover up the flowers and for Cassie to come over to support Steve. With the plans put on hold, Steve and his loved ones headed to the Rovers to pay tribute to Jim. Fans are not happy (Credit: ITV) Coronation Street fans livid over death of legend Jim McDonald With Jim McDonald being killed off-screen, Coronation Street fans have shared their frustration on social media. They’re livid, demanding justice for Jim – a legend that didn’t even get an on-screen death and didn’t need to die at all. Before Jim’s death aired, one fan on X wrote: “It’s obvious Steve’s not going to see Jim. It’s the same as the Les exit. It’s pathetic … No reason to of killed them off.” Another person added: “Take note… killing off legendary characters like Jim McDonald is not needed! Need to keep back catalogue of options going forward for unexpected returns etc.” A third fan added: “Jim’s death is on Monday btw, can’t believe they are killing him off screen.” Speaking to The Sun, Jim actor Charlie Lawson also reflected on his character’s death, stating: “That is it. It’s a tragedy he didn’t go in a shooting or something dramatic, powerful and great.” But, instead, Jim died in hospital with Steve not even managing to visit his dad before he passed away. Brutal.
