Viewers have been hoping for justice for Mason for a long time, and it seemed that something was finally done about it today. That’s because Betsy finally realised that Mason didn’t even have to die in the first place. Poor chap. Mason died last year (Credit: ITV) Mason Radcliffe’s death in Coronation Street Teen Mason Radcliffe was just turning a corner and starting to be redeemed when tragedy struck in January 2025. Boyfriend of Betsy Swain, Mason was ready to start again and work with Stu in Germany but never got the chance to live out his hopeful dream. He’d never given Lisa a WW2 helmet that exposed them as being at the scene of the crime. His brothers then got revenge by stabbing him, sadly resulting in his premature death despite best efforts to save his life. However, ever since it was revealed that Becky Swain was still alive and faked her own death, viewers realised that Mason’s death was ‘pointless’ as his brothers hadn’t actually killed her after all. Therefore, he didn’t even need to help Lisa and Betsy get justice for Becky. Betsy blamed Mason’s death on Becky (Credit: ITV) Coronation Street ITVX episode acknowledges ‘pointless’ Mason death One year on from Mason’s passing, Coronation Street has finally acknowledged that his death was ‘meaningless.’ In today’s ITVX episode, Betsy visited her mum Becky at the prison and blamed her for Mason dying. She even reckoned that Becky had planned out the whole thing, and that it was what she wanted. She realised that it was because of Becky that Mason died, and that he didn’t even need to die because she had always been alive. Betsy then told Becky that she wished she had really died all those years ago, just like Mason. In scenes that aired later on, it was then revealed that Becky had been sentenced to 12 years in prison. There hasn’t even been a trial. But, can the Street finally move on from Becky’s corrupt was and rebuild the destruction she’s caused?
