Bernie Winter arrested in Coronation Street

Bernie Winter was arrested at Roy’s Rolls last night on suspicion of attacking Mal Roper (Thursday, February 26).

Today, she awoke in a police cell before being taken in for questioning. Son Kit was allowed a few minutes to visit his mum, believing that Bernie wasn’t responsible.

Bernie was then questioned by DC Browning, explaining all about her night with Mal at the hotel and how he’d become obsessed with her. But, the detective viewed this as a motive.

Fortunately for Bernie, her alibi of being at the shop drinking was backed up by CCTV and she was allowed to walk free. But, this didn’t mean that the police would stop looking for the true culprit. And, they were very close to home…

Yes, DC Kit Green was the true culprit.

He then explained that he ‘grabbed him, gave him a shove, and warned him off,’ to protect Bernie. But, he couldn’t predict that Mal was to have a heart attack after the incident.

Sarah told Kit that he might’ve made Bernie’s situation worse, with Kit then heading to the police station to confess his involvement to DC Browning.

Fortunately for him though, it didn’t need to come to that as he discovered that Bernie had an alibi and allowed to go home.

But, will DC Browning and DS Lisa Swain soon work out the truth?
