Eva Price’s mother-in-law Maggie rocked up onto the cobbles on Monday night (October 27) and soon made herself known to the Weatherfield locals. She immediately jumped behind the Rovers bar and claimed the place as her own in shock news for Eva who had originally believed herself to be the new landlady of the pub. Maggie made quite the entrance on Monday night (Credit: ITV) Maggie Driscoll’s arrival in Coronation Street Maggie Driscoll didn’t arrive onto the Street until the very end of Monday night’s episode. But, oh wow, did she make an impact in such a short space of time. Before her arrival, Ben surprised Eva Price with the keys to the Rovers after buying the pub from Carla. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers However, after Eva made herself at home, Glenda then dropped the bombshell that Ben hadn’t actually handed over the money for the property yet so they didn’t actually own it. Oops. Ben had been so desperate to get his hands on the pub that he hadn’t figured out a way to raise the funds for it, crushing Eva’s hopes and dreams. He later told Eva though that he’d managed to find the cash and that the pub was now officially theirs. Once the celebratory party had well and truly started, Ben’s mum Maggie arrived. She shocked everyone by announcing that the pub had been bought with her money. Placing herself behind the bar, she then titled herself as the new ‘landlady’ of the Rovers. Iconic, if you ask us. Actress Pauline McLynn has now teased that there’s lots in store for the character and that she’s one to keep an eye on. Speaking to the Metro, Pauline McLynn teased: “She’s fiercely loyal and protective of her family. There’ll be things happening over Christmas where you think, ‘Oh come on, that’s very bad behaviour at the very least!’ “Maggie likes to throw in the most outrageous things just to see how far she can go. But often that line has been long passed!” This comes after Corrie producer Kate Brooks revealed that the Driscolls will be at the centre of the drama on Christmas Day, in what will be a true ‘community-based’ episode.
