During a scene with Ken and Daniel, Bertie could be seen looking slightly different to usual. Well, actually quite a bit different. That’s because the soap has decided to recast him, with a new actor now taking on the role. Bertie is played by someone else now (Credit: ITV) Coronation Street recasts Bertie Osbourne in Coronation Street Rufus Morgan Smith had been playing the role of Bertie Osbourne since 2019, taking on the role full-time in 2020 after previous sharing with his twin Elias. Over the years though, the character has been only seen on rare occasions. Fans have often joked about Bertie’s whereabouts, wondering if he was patiently waiting to come out of the ‘prop cupboard’ again with some of the other seemingly ‘missing’ Corrie kids. He was now being played by a completely different actor – Henry Duggan. The eight-year-old started filming on the ITV soap in January 2026, and was actually trained at co-star Tina O’Brien’s drama school – The Drama Mob. Bertie’s recast comes as dad Daniel Osbourne’s new mental health storyline kicks off on the back of dating child groomer Megan Walsh.Don't miss a single story! Fans had to do a double take (Credit: ITV) Fans react to new Barlow member recast Ken Barlow‘s grandson and Daniel’s son’s recast didn’t go unnoticed by eagle-eyed fans today despite them having to do a double-take to make sure their eyes weren’t deceiving them. Considering that Bertie only appears on screen occasionally, they’d be forgiven for thinking that he’d just grown up a bit. But, no, a new actor does indeed now play him. One person on X wrote: “Is this the same Bertie? It’s not, right? I mean how much can a kid grow in just four months?” Another viewer exclaimed: “New Bertie alert! Not surprising though.” A third person reacted to the recast news: “Finally looking forward to seeing the new Bertie.” A fourth person joked: “Oh have they found Tyrone’s son as well?
