The villain reaches his most dangerous level yet when he is handed a gun by his dodgy associate Fiona. But, as he gets involved in the gun drama with Kevin, Tyrone and Ronnie, could Carl be leaving the soap? Kevin is left reeling after discovering footage which appears to show Carl tampering with his car brakes. Furious, he storms in to confront Carl head-on, only to be stunned when he realises Tyrone and Ronnie were already aware of what happened. As emotions spiral out of control, Kevin loses his temper completely and advances on Carl with a wrench in hand. But, the situation takes a far more dangerous turn. Carl produces a gun he has just obtained from Fiona, instantly shifting the confrontation into something far more serious. All the men are left staring down the weapon, with Ronnie insisting nobody is going anywhere until the situation is resolved. Kevin, refusing to believe the gun is real, makes a reckless move and grabs it from Carl, pointing it directly at him and leaving Ronnie horrified. In the chaos, Ronnie tries desperately to wrestle the gun away, but it suddenly discharges. The blast sends shockwaves through the garage as panic erupts. Everyone is left scrambling to process what has just happened and the devastating consequences now hanging in the air. Is Carl about to leave the soap? Sticking around for this length of time wasn’t always on the cards though, with actor Jonathan Howard telling The Mirror: “Originally, when I joined, it was like ‘OK, I’ll do 12 months.’ But [my daughter has] settled – she goes to school in Manchester – and so I don’t necessarily want to rock the boat right now.” He then revealed that he’d like Carl to stay in Weatherfield while Debbie Webster’s dementia storyline continues to play out (which we know will continue well into 2027). He said: “I think we’d be missing out on something for Carl to leave before he’s come to terms with his mum’s dementia diagnosis. I would at least like to stay until we see what happens to Debbie. Then we’ll see what happens after that.” So, despite the gun drama, it sounds like Carl’s not getting his comeuppance for quite a while!
