And that’s where kind of Jodie comes in.” We’re already intrigued, given Jodie’s arrival in the show. So what can Kate tell us about this new member of the Platt family? “She’s a complicated character,” she teases. “She comes with a lot of baggage, shall we say.” Well, that sounds like an understatement, considering she’s tied up in a dead man’s van. But Kate says Jodie could be more of a family woman than she appears at first. David and Shona have a lot on their plate so the arrival of Jodie is a shock (Credit: ITV) Platt family drama “Shona and Jodie’s relationship as sisters is quite fraught,” she explains. “They’ve got a lot of history between them. But they love each other. They do have that bond, and even though they’ve been estranged for a number of years, that bond is still very strong.” Of course, the Platts have a lot on their plate now, after the birth of their baby girl – Harper. Kate says that Jodie proves surprisingly helpful to the family. “She comes in as sort of a lifesaver really,” Kate reveals. “She makes herself invaluable to that family unit, but, you know, she may have ulterior motives.” Shona and Jodie have been estranged for many years (Credit: ITV) Troublemaker Jodie Sounds interesting. What else is there to know about Jodie? “She’s a bit of a troublemaker,” says Kate. “She’s got a bit of mischief in her eyes. All is not what it seems with Jodie and there’s a lot of layers to her.” And Kate has some advice for the Corrie viewers when it comes to Jodie. “Keep an eye on her,” she tells us. “There are lots of secrets to explode, and she is going to come and bring an awful lot of drama to the Platts.” And, let’s not forget Graham But of course, what we all really want to know is how Jodie is connected to Graham! “We’ll find out exactly why she was in that van,” Kate confirms. “We’ll find out what her link to Graham is. We will reveal what went on between them and how Jodie ended up running for her life through a wooded area, and what Graham’s role was in it.” And that’s not all – Kate says Jodie’s connection to Graham tells us more about her. “Graham was a character with a murky past, who was capable of many things,” she says. “Because Jodie is embroiled with somebody of that ilk, it sheds light on what kind of character she is.” Jodie proves helpful to the Platt family, but does she have an ulterior motive? (Credit: ITV) Hints of sisterly love Of course, then there’s Shona herself. Kate says the arrival of her sister gives her character a “new dynamic.” “She’s always embraced the Platts and been part of that family,” Kate explains. “But this is Shona’s own family, this is her flesh and blood. How does she react to that? How does she deal with that? And what lengths would she go to to protect her sister?” We can’t wait to find out more!
