Coronation Street final scenes have aired for a much-loved character in today’s ITVX early release episode (Friday, December 19).

Dee-Dee Bailey left Weatherfield with her daughter Laila as the pair prepared to move to Singapore.

Despite her final scenes having only just aired, actress Channique Sterling-Brown is already working on a new project. She moves fast!

Dee-Dee Bailey’s Coronation Street ITVX exit scenes

Today, Alya asked Dee-Dee when she was leaving for Singapore. Dee-Dee shocked her by revealing that she was making her way to London tonight before hopping on a flight this weekend.

Gathering her family for a goodbye meal at the bistro (of course), Dee-Dee promised everyone that she’d let them visit whenever they wanted.

‘I’ll miss yous’ were exchanged, with even Lauren Bolton chipping in to say how much she admired Dee-Dee for escaping the memories of Joel.

However, one person failed to turn up to the meal – James Bailey. He was taking the whole thing rather personally.

Once Dee-Dee’s loved ones lined up on the Street to wave her off in front of her carriage (we mean taxi), James had a change of heart and said a proper goodbye.

He told little Laila that he loved her and watched Dee-Dee and her baby ride off on their way to London, marking the character’s final scenes on the soap. SOB.

Channique Sterling-Brown’s next career move revealed

Talking on Lorraine yesterday (Thursday, December 18), Channique Sterling-Brown reflected on her time on the cobbles.

She then excitedly revealed that she was already working on a brand-new project.

Channique is putting pen to paper this time though, rather than reading scripts. Why? Because she’s writing a play of her own!

She told Lorraine: “Im writing a play for the Hope Mill Theatre [in Manchester] with HER Productions. We’re working with a charity called Her Place. It’s really important work about social care and women whose children get taken into social care and how they’re supported.”

The play is expected to take to the stage in March, 2026.

Of course, the door is open for Dee-Dee herself to return to the cobbles in the future should Channique wish to after all of her exciting new projects have been completed.

Channique admitted that she’s grateful for that and that the show didn’t decide to kill her off. She explained: “It’s very, very kind of the team to leave the door open for me, and I love that she still exists somewhere, living her best life.”
