Debbie made the difficult decision to plead guilty for the Corriedale crash that killed Billy Mayhew. But, what the rest of her family didn’t know was that she had a reason for doing so… involving Carl. Bernie Winter even rocked up at the flat before Debbie headed to court and assured her that Billy’s death was an accident. She didn’t want Debbie spending what was left of her precious time in prison. However, Carl Webster encouraged Debbie to plead guilty. After this plot twist, Adam spoke to her and told her that it was looking likely she’d be sentenced. The case was swaying towards her being of sound mind when the crash happened. Ronnie begged Adam to find medical proof that Debbie’s dementia meant that she didn’t know what she was doing and didn’t mean to crash the car. Adam said he’d try his best but they would need to prepare for the possibility of a prison sentence. She didn’t think she was cut out for it. Once alone, viewers finally realised why Debbie had pleaded guilty. She knew about Carl framing her for the car accident but felt the need to protect her brother. Cough, cough, son. Yes, as she opened up a memory box, she started to reminisce over a photo of herself and Carl together. She then rummaged inside the lining of the box and pulled out a hospital baby bracelet. And, it revealed that Debbie Webster was actually Carl’s mum. Of course, Carl has no idea of this and was ready to fleece Debbie for all she had. But, now that Debbie’s asked him to stick around and support her through this difficult time, will Carl find out the truth?
