Coronation Street viewers might be wondering just who on earth is Jodie, the mystery woman seen in Corriedale scenes.

She first appeared briefly in last night’s Corriedale episode (Monday, January 5). She’d been tied up in the back of a van by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster.

Appearing once more in today’s ITVX early release (Tuesday, January 6), it seems that the character might just be linked to Shona Platt.

Coronation Street ITVX early release reveals mystery woman identity

A mystery woman was introduced to viewers in yesterday’s Corriedale episode. It was unclear which soap she belonged to, being seen tied up in the back of van that was involved in the huge car pile-up.

Thanks to the van being part of the accident, the woman was able to escape and started to run to safety through the woods (luckily avoiding killer on the loose John Sugden in the process).

It appeared that the woman was involved with Emmerdale’s Graham Foster somehow. He’d been driving the van that she was in. Graham had ‘died’ six years ago. But, it turned out that was all fake. He’d actually been alive this entire time.

Today’s ITVX episode saw viewers meet the woman properly this time, finding out that her name was Jodie.

As Shona Platt walked past her at the hospital, Jodie’s face changed. A member of staff at the hospital noticed that ‘it looked like she’d seen a ghost.’

She clearly recognised Shona from somewhere before. But, does their history stem much further back than just the car pile-up?

Coronation Street spoilers tease Jodie and Shona ‘link’

In Coronation Street spoilers for next week, it appears as though Jodie’s very keen to be a part of Shona’s life.

Just when you think No.8 has seen it all, Jodie drops in with a twist that has Shona raising an eyebrow. She reveals she was caught up in the same car crash as David and Shona – but could there be more to her story? Later, David stumbles across her in the hospital car park, panic written all over her face, confessing she has nowhere to turn.

Before long, Jodie is slipping into life at No.8 like she’s always belonged, charming Bethany and Lily with ease. But the cosy vibe takes a nosedive when Nick pops in, only to find Jodie making herself right at home…

When David and Shona return, the icy atmosphere is palpable. Nick and Jodie are clearly clashing, and Shona can’t help but notice the bruises on Jodie’s wrist. She claims it’s from fleeing an abusive relationship before the crash, but something tells us there might be a little more behind those eyes.

Could Jodie be hiding a connection to Shona that even she hasn’t realised yet?
